Non-simple lists edit
Whilst initially populating this cat, I've included a handful of lists in this category, that aren't simple alphabetical indices, for the sake of completism. Listing those below. -- Quiddity (talk) 08:43, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

- The collections represented at Category:WikiProject assessments could be considered topical indexes. Equally, the related-changes topics-lists, like Wikipedia:WikiProject Illinois/Illinois recent changes. I haven't included these.
- Almost all of the Category:Mathematics-related lists are non-simple, and I haven't included them in either the category or the above list.
Is there any issue with including "non-simple lists" (like your examples) that are not "simple alphabetical" indices? - Neparis (talk) 17:50, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you have something specific in mind, example links would help ;)
- My main intent, is to list pages that are purely navigational, and have no chance of being developed into "encyclopedic articles"; but not including lists of lists, lists of people, dab pages, or basic topic lists. -- Quiddity (talk) 20:16, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- No examples in mind — I have no axe to grind. I think it is a good category. I took interest in it because I had myself been gradually preparing a similarly named new category Category:Subject indices by compiling offline a list of suitable list articles, but it looks like you beat me to it by creating your category! I take your point about excluding lists that ought to be full articles. I might have different opinions about the boundaries of the category, for example, whether lists of basic topics, and nested lists really need be excluded. - I know very little about Wikipedia categories, and was really just making this cat to illustrate the above noted conversation on potentially moving various things to portalspace. It might be good to limit the contents whilst that conversation is ongoing, but suggestions are more than welcome, and changing its direction or adding subcats or renaming or whatnot is fine if you know the category system very well :) (I started off with category:alphabetical indexes, but then changed my mind after labeling 20 of them ;) -- Quiddity (talk) 05:21, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- You manage to look like you know a lot about categories! Personally I am not keen on the idea of moving the navigational topic lists to portal space, an idea that has proved controversial in at least one case.
