Major category change edit

Was this category change proposed somewhere before it was recently created? Since it entails changing categories on thousands of articles, might be worth having a discussion before going full steam ahead czar  06:05, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Not on-wiki, but it was discussed in IRC not so much as a change so much as a solution since a vast majority had not yet been put in a player count gameplay mode category yet (only a couple dozen are changing categories, most are getting one new category instead of two). The primary parent categories, Single-user and Multiuser, were about to be populated and it was noted that there would be thousands of overlaps between the two categories once that was done. So creating one overlapping subcategory seemed a more sensible solution - and also matched the existing subcategories of "single-player-only" and "multiplayer-only". There was some discussion about Coop and Online - but since those are basically subsets of multiplayer games, this seemed the most logical name. If there is on-wiki consensus to do something else, I volunteer to do the work to implement it. However, I think this was a reasonable solution. --Varnent (talk)(COI) 14:20, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
I agree that it probably should have been discussed ahead of time on Wiki, but that being said, I personally have no objection to it. Sergecross73 msg me 18:58, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
