Is your intent that the new Category:Municipal coats of arms in London should replace Category:Coats of arms of London Boroughs? Arms Jones (talk) 14:06, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Arms Jones: Not sure. We could categorise all coats of arms by 1) council type and/or 2) location. I'm not sure what value is added by, for example, categorising together all the metropolitan district council coats of arms, but there is nothing that should prevent it. What do you think? - Normally, I think there can almost never be too many categories, because the more categories there are, the easier it is to find articles. These two categories however, is virtually overlapping eachother totally, at least at present. The new category is actually better, since City of London is not a borough formally and therefor rightly should not be listed in Category:Coats of arms of London Boroughs. I think the new category is good. I don't know if the old category is still needed. Arms Jones (talk) 14:17, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Arms Jones: I think it needs amending anyway for manual of style capitalisation reasons. I think it should become Category:Coats of arms of London borough councils and then exclude the City Corporation, which is still covered by the "in London" category. MRSC (talk) 14:24, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- That sounds like a good idea. The more formally correct the category name is, the better. Arms Jones (talk) 15:17, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- I let the files stay in this category for the time being. They will get articles eventually anyway and will not need any category when that is done. Arms Jones (talk) 02:14, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
