Inclusion criteria edit

The inclusion criteria in this category are too broad and should be revised. As currently stated they are:

  1. no longer standing
  2. no longer in use as church buildings
  3. now used by another religion or denomination.

After the English Reformation every church in England became used by another denomination, so this category would include thousands of medieval churches in England. The same applies in other formerly Roman Catholic countries. Applying this rule would make the number of members of these categories huge, and make the categories of very limited use.

The simplest way to resolve this is to remove rule 3, and for clarity change rule 2 to no longer in use as church buildings by any Christian denomination. Alternatively we could frame the criteria to exclude churches whose denomination changed as a direct result of a Protestant Reformation within their country. There is CFD history behind this hierarchy. Most church buildings affected by the Protestant Reformation should be in the subcats, Category:Lutheran church buildings converted from Roman Catholicism‎ Category:Lutheran churches converted from Roman Catholicism‎ and Category:Former Roman Catholic churches in the United Kingdom‎. – Fayenatic London 00:57, 30 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
