These were all officially Vessel, Supply, Aircraft Repair, Diesel, Steel, 180', designed with the well deck covered for machine shops to make a flush deck variant, probably of the Design 330D FS hull that had the same dimensions. They were all eventually named for U.S. Army Air Corps/Forces colonels. There is a definite record of FS-215 operating as " Auxillary Aircraft Repair Ship FS-215". In the immediate post war period, probably as the floating repair requirement phased out, there is also indication these poorly documented vessels did operate as cargo vessels. These vessels are so poorly documented that individual articles of any merit are unlikely with the exception of the one vessel currently in the category. Shipbuilding History (FS-204 through FS-221) has bare bones for the group. Perhaps a better approach than a one ship category would be a page on the variant?
