Sivasubramaniam a/l Athinarayanan, also known as A. Sivasubramaniam is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Buntong from March 2008 to November 2022. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition and was a member of the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (GERAKAN), another component party of the PN coalition as well as Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

He is a Bachelor of Business Administration from Open University Malaysia.[1]

Defections and party switchings edit

In March 2020, Tronoh MLA Paul Yong Choo Kiong and Sivasubramaniam were removed from DAP as they defected and supported the opposing PN. In June 2020, Sivasubramiam then joined GERAKAN. In March 2021, Sivasubramaniam and Yong left BERSATU and joined BERSATU as party associate members. In January 2022, they left BERSATU for PBM. In September 2022, they left PBM and rejoined BERSATU as associate members again with former Bercham MLA Sum Cheok Leng.

In the 2022 Perak state election, he was renominated by PN to defend the Buntong state seat. He was not reelected as the Buntong MLA after losing heavily to Thulsi Thivaran Manogaran of PH by a minority of 19,155 votes.[2][3][4][5]
