Please do not change WikiProject assessments unless you are familiar with that project's criteria. Each WikiProject rates their articles differently...WP:PW requires an article to be completely sourced with in-line citations before it can be a B class. Thanks. Nikki311 21:24, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

It is the job of the WikiProject's assessment team to change the ratings for their articles. Nikki311 21:25, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Did you read WP:ASSESS? It states: It is vital that people do not take these assessments personally. It is understood that we all have different priorities and different opinions about what makes a perfect article. Generally an active project will develop a consensus, though be aware that different projects may use their own variation of the criteria more tuned for the subject area, such as this. Many projects have an assessment team. If you contribute a lot of content to an article you may request an independent assessment. WikiProjects are allowed to organize their assessments whatever way they want to keep themselves organized. For example, A-class and List-class are optional. Also, WP:SCHOOLS has an assessment team of several editors that require the editors to post their assessments changes above a certain class or importance, to make sure there is consensus for the change. Also, if you look under the B-criteria at WP:ASSESS, it clearly states: The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations where necessary. If you look at the article example, it is thoroughly referenced. Nikki311 23:16, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

List of Minnesota Vikings head coaches

Hey man, thanks for reviewing List of Minnesota Vikings starting quarterbacks. Without your help, we wouldn't have yet another featured list here! As a follow-up to that list, you may have noticed that I have now nominated List of Minnesota Vikings head coaches for featured list status. I would therefore like to ask you to make a couple of comments about that list, provided that you have enough spare time on your hands. Many thanks. – PeeJay 10:52, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

RFA?

I was looking at your contributions closely and I feel that you are well-qualifed for WP:RFA, interested in a nomination. Thanks Secret account 14:35, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Lidge

His middle name is no longer Thomas, it is now Blown save. Why did you revert the edit?

I will no longer make edits on the Lidge page. However, his loss in Game 4 of the 2009 World Series was particularly critical in the context of the World Series and should be treated as such. By eliminating the context, it minimizes the significance of the event and it appears to bias the article in favor of Lidge.

I understand that you are a fan of the Phillies and Brad Lidge, and you also have the power to control the contents of Lidge's page. I will respect your preferences and wishes and leave his page alone from now on. DanielSong39 (talk) 17:56, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Request

Hey dude, I'm sure you are very busy with RL and your RfA, but when you get the chance can you review Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of members of the Basketball Hall of Fame/archive1? No obligation, but it's been languishing at FLC for almost a month and a half, and I think one more review could push it over the top. Only if you get the chance. Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 03:19, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

I looked at it the other day. Didn't really "review", but I'll try later on today if I've got a few minutes, if for no other reason than to clear it off the docket before the next bot run. KV5 (TalkPhils) 12:38, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Volcanoes list

It's finished, at List of volcanoes in the Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain. I wrote the lead from memory so I have to go ref hunting, and a few other tweaks, however my question is, do FLs neccesarily have to have a sortable feature for the whole list? I'm asking this because the list is broken up into 3 sects. Also, do you think this would pass an FL? Or is it too selective? Like I said, all of the other ones have no more then a coord and a name (a lot don't even have a name). ResMar 16:51, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

I don't think it needs to be sortable for the entire list, but I think that those three sections should be their own level-2 sections and be sortable. Using colspans in the list as section headers like that is discouraged now. You're probably going to have to change the individual island subheaders to their own column as well, so they can be sorted. I'm not the authority on content forking, so you can always just go for it and see what the other reviewers say. Your title is going to need a tweak too, by the way. KV5 (TalkPhils) 17:01, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Uh, the title...? What do you mean there? As for the section headers, yes I know I'm going to have to do that. I thought of splitting the intro too, but can't find a good line to draw. Long intros are ok right? (sorry, this is only my second FL :) ) ResMar 17:07, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
The length of the lead, IMO, is fine. As to the title: because "Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain" shows disjunction, an en-dash is required. Also, because it's a two-part adjective and one part is spaced, the correct title would be "List of volcanoes in the Hawaiian – Emperor seamount chain". KV5 (TalkPhils) 17:10, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Ah, so I just type in "—" in? Doesn't seem so hard. ResMar 17:14, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
En-dash, not em-dash, and space it. That's pretty much it. You won't even need to nowiki tag it. KV5 (TalkPhils) 17:19, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
'K. ResMar 17:25, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Done. ResMar 18:04, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
You'll have to change all of the other references in the article to the chain as well (the main article for the chain should be moved anyway). KV5 (TalkPhils) 18:06, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
What do you mean? ResMar 18:10, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
The correct name for any article regarding that chain or any reference thereto is "Hawaiian – Emperor seamount chain", so they would all need to be spaced and use an en-dash. You could probably recruit a bot to do it, but better to do it manually for this article. KV5 (TalkPhils) 18:15, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Happily, no such problem exists, yet. ResMar 18:17, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, yes it does... Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain right in the lead of this article is wrong. KV5 (TalkPhils) 18:19, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I thought you meant the refs...ok I'll go between the two and fix them up. While you're here getting bugged by me, I'd like to ask something unrelated; a while ago I listed Kohala (mountain) for GAN, but now that I look back upon it, I think, maybe it's too narrow in scope...what do you think, should it be expanded? ResMar 18:26, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't see any glaring omissions that I would expect to see in an article about a mountain, but you're definitely the expert. The only mountains I understand are mountains of baseball statistics :-D. KV5 (TalkPhils) 18:29, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Question on warnings/blocking

If someone has been a vandal in the past and got blocked, waited a while after the block was released, and then vandalized again, what do you do? Do you start them off with a level 1 vandalism warning again, or something higher? Do you have an admin block them again? -HaiyaTheWin IS The Win! 18:29, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

It really depends on the situation. If it's an IP, erring on the side of caution is best, so I'd start over. If it's a user with a logged-in name, I might start with a level-2 warning. If the vandalism is really severe, and if they've been blocked before, you always have the single-level, 4-im warnings, but those are to be used sparingly. If you have a more specific question or can point me at a page and user that you're referring to, I might be able to help you further. KV5 (TalkPhils) 19:06, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I was thinking about when I came across an IP adress like that recently, and gave it a level 3, which then was too severe, but nobody said anything or did anything to correct me. I've been worrying about it for a little while, and decided to ask about it. It was IP 70.88.192.101 on Macalester College. Thanks again and Merry Christmas, -HaiyaTheWin IS The Win! 19:17, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
I would assume it's this diff to which you refer. For blatant vandalism of that nature, on an article which that IP has a pattern of editing, it's fairly safe to assume that it was the same editor from the prior warnings, and don't fault you in the slightest for a level-3 warning. I probably would have gone to 2, but I tend to be very conservative with warnings. However, I likely would have gone right from 2 to 4, skipping 3 in between, if I saw the pattern on the same article. I wouldn't worry about it; it appears that you acted prudently, in as good of faith as can be assumed with an IP with a "history", and in the best interests of the encyclopedia. Cheers, and Merry Christmas to you too. KV5 (TalkPhils) 02:57, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
