August Esperanza Newsletter edit

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Date links edit

I've reverted your removal of all the date links in the articles on the Australian premiers and chief ministers. Why the newfound interest in this? Surely there's more useful things you could be doing. Rebecca 09:19, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Harro5 was correct in removing links from isolated years, as stated in the dates section of the MOS:
Not every year listed in an article needs to be wikilinked. Ask yourself: will clicking on the year bring any useful information to the reader?
The widespread practice is not to have a plethora of links as in this example, so these need to be reverted again. Thanks. Tyrenius 03:46, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, they don't. The MOS requires that some thought and discretion be used if removing links, which is incompatible with using an automated script, and some perfectly useful links were removed. I didn't particularly want to push this, but the above is simply wrong. Rebecca 04:18, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The problem is that years are usually linked in the first place because of a misunderstanding that that is the correct thing to do, when it isn't, so it is not in the same category as removing other links, which have been inserted purposefully in the first place. In the example I cited above, I can't see any pressing need for those years to be linked, and it appears to have been done in a mechanical fashion, so the removal was helpful. Have I missed anything here? Tyrenius 04:26, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tyrenius is misrepresenting the MOS to suggest that it still claims something that was specifically removed by general consensus; namely, that it authorises people to go around mass-killing date links on principle. We had a very lengthy discussion on this matter, involving many people, and the general consensus was that links should be judged on their merits. This is why the MOS gives absolutely no guidance as to removing date links. Both formats are fine, but I reserve the right to revert when someone makes it their business to go around shooting all on sight. Rebecca 04:31, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

This conversation continues on my talk page and Rebecca's talk page. You may have something to contribute to this. Tyrenius 17:12, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. You're capable of doing some really good work, yet this really isn't helpful. Moreover, there are no grounds under the MOS to go around killing each and every date link, and if you continue to do so by automated means I'll begin rollbacking all of them on sight. Rebecca 09:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I understand that this script pauses so that any links to be removed can be reviewed. It seems to me that this is the key point, namely does Harro5 at this stage assess each date link on its individual merit before then deleting? If he does, then he fulfils the requirements. Perhaps he could make a statement on this. If indeed every time all year links are removed, perhaps he could also explain why this is so, and why he has judged none to be worth retaining.

The relevant section in Manual of style (dates and numbers) states:

There is consensus among editors that bare month and day names should not be linked unless there is a specific reason that the link will help the reader to understand the article. There is less agreement about links to years. Some editors believe that links to years are generally useful to establish context for the article. Others believe that links to years are rarely useful to the reader and reduce the readability of the text. Another possibility is to link to a more specific article about that year, for example [[2006 in sports|2006]], although some people find this unintuitive because the link leads to an unexpected destination.

Obviously there is a clash of philosophy on this which has not been resolved, and I wonder if this is at the heart of the current dispute.

Tyrenius 21:36, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

George Allen edit

Harro5, I do not appreciate you removing my edits. It was all factual, verifiable material, something you would have found out had you clicked on the links. George Allen did indeed play a role in Gods and Generals as a confederate officer. I do not consider this "nonsense". I consider it fact. It may be humorous, but it happened and is part of George Allen's life.

Your edit of "Zeta Psi" edit

No need for a mop here, just simple curiosity. I noticed you added a line to the Zeta Psi article noting that "Zeta Psi is also rumored to be one of the most secretive fraternities in the nation." I don't disagree with you, but it seems like this is the sort of statement which it would be beneficial to source. Where did you form this impression? A-League News

Project News
  • The Player project has been moved, overhauled and refined. It now is not limited to the 2005-06 player list. However, only 10% of articles are considered "complete", and hopefully we can get this figure to approach 100% by the end of the season.
  • Major changes to the layout of the 2006-07 A-League season page have taken place recently, and an infobox created. A table for attendances, as well as top scorer etc. are now in place. All users are encouraged to update the scores for completed matches as they come in.
  • Recently, Perth Glory F.C. was moved to Perth Glory FC after no objections were raised at the Wikiproject talk page. All links to the old page (including various templates) were changed.
  • The project requires pictures of games and stadiums to help improve articles. Any pictures are much appreciated.
  • The A-League Portal has been set up. Feel free to update the scores, and make sure you check out the selected article and picture each fortnight.
  • The football (soccer) barnstar has recently became the official award of the Wikiproject. Feel free to hand it out to anyone you see making excellent contributions to all things A-League related.

S&P: an international reaction or a financial market reaction? edit

You moved S&P's warning that it might downgrade Thailand's debt rating from the Financial Market Reaction section to the International Reaction section. Are you sure that's appropriate. It seems weird to see S&P right there along with the US, UN, EU, etc. S&P is at most a financial institution, and I believe its warning should belong in the Financial section. Speedy deletion of Bindi Irwin edit

I have restored the history of the article and a redirect to Steve Irwin (without prejudice to a new article about her), because its former deletion discussion only resulted in deletion because the article was created by a banned user. (Per WP:CSD, re-creation of a speedily deleted article is not a speedy deletion candidate, unless it meets the criteria on its own. If you believe that a new discussion on the merit of the article is warranted, you may re-nominate it for deletion using the template {{Afdx}}.) - Mike Rosoft 10:34, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!

Help! edit

This user, User:Abu badali, keeps on trying to delete fair use images that I've uploaded, especially Image:Allison Mack1.jpg and Image:Kristinkreuk1.jpg. I have gotten permission from the websites owners to use these images, and I have written a detailed fair use rationale for both of them, and they both have the fair use tag on them. Even after a lengthy discussion, he still will not accept that they are fair use and he keeps trying to delete them! Loooking at his talk page and his contributions, he seems to think that he is the highest authority on all things "fair use", but he obviously is not. Can you please help me, or get some other administrators to help me, convince him that they are in fact fair use images and should not be deleted? It would be greatly appreciated, and he must be stopped before he lists every single fair use image for deletion. Thank you. - Ivan Kricancic 03:34, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Date links edit

Please stop. You're now the only editor on Wikipedia systematically removing date links, and it really is quite inflammatory. It isn't sanctioned by any policy, and there's just no need to do it. Rebecca 02:45, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

We had a very long discussion about it in the archives of WP:DATE, and while no substantive conclusion was reached, it was agreed that removing date links en masse was unacceptable, and that advice was subsequently removed from the MOS. Consequently, Bobblewik and the other users who were mass-delinking have ceased to do so (in Bobblewik's case under the threat of a community ban, the others voluntarily). The latest feedback on Bobblewik's talk pages gives a fairly good summary of current community opinion about this sort of thing. Rebecca 05:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

According to the Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(dates_and_numbers)#Partial_dates the edits Harro5 is making are perfectly acceptable. David D. (Talk) 06:50, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

For the beginning of the discussion see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)/archive42. It continues on through multiple archives and as far as i can remember no consensus was reached. Certainly no ban on the type of edits you have been doing. David D. (Talk) 06:57, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
No, they are not. As with all the other forms of these issues, such as date formats and BC/BCE, incessant mass-changing in the face of opposition is really controversial, which is why every single other person (to my knowledge) who was mass-delinking has stopped, and several people who support date delinking were among those asking Bobblewik to quit it. They are not sanctioned by the current MOS - the advice which people used to rely on having been taken out as a result of general consensus. Really, there's no need to be causing such continuing antagonism, and you're capable of doing really good work, so why continue to try and force the issue? If you must, try and get a consensus for your changes. Rebecca 23:52, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
The manual of style is very specific. "So when considering whether such a date should be linked or not, editors should take into account the usual considerations about links, including the recommendations of Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context." How were Harro5's edits not following this recommendation? You claim mass delinking. If that was so there would be no linked date left in the article. This was not so. We are probably at the polar extremes of this debate, so I am willing to give and take, and certainly do not seek to rock the boat. However, you are harrassing a user over an issue that is not cut and dry. David D. (Talk) 00:21, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Also i do not regard my stance as some continuing antagonism. I have not been involved in this debate for a long time and have not been actively delinking dates, although I do when i see them over linked. I happened to notice your own aggressive revert and your own antagonistic reply here (it really is quite inflammatory). That I responded makes me the overly forward one here? David D. (Talk) 03:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's not su much that I am trying to remove a personal attack, it's just that I've seen how quickly talk pages can degenerate when people make off topic posts. Image:Rickwarren.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rickwarren.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok 20:11, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?

About your block on 203.94.129.158 edit

I think you should unblock this IP, because the blocking policy states that infinite blocks on IPs should not be done unless they're open proxies. Not only that, it's a school IP, and the template on the talk page at the top says that school IPs can only be blocked for up to 6 months. And it's been blocked for some time now, so I think they've learned their lesson. --AAA! (AAAA) 03:48, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fifth Melbourne meetup edit

The fifth meetup of Melbourne Wikipedians is being planned as a breakfast meeting in the city with Jimbo Wales (at a venue to be arranged) on Friday, 27 April 2007.

Jimbo has proposed breakfast as the one real window of opportunity during his tightly scheduled stay in Melbourne. Tbe precise time has to be sorted out with Jimbo, but the arrangements for the equivalent Adelaide meetup a few days before may give a good idea.

Feel free to edit the relevant page in any way that might be helpful. I feel like a bit of an interloper, not having attended previous meetups. If there's anything you can do to help, I'll be grateful. Please think about whether you'll be able to make it, assuming the arrangements are similar to those Adelaide is adopting (i.e. a block of time with people being fairly free to arrive when it suits them). Some indication on the page of your possible participation would be really helpful. Metamagician3000 06:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Auskick.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Auskick.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Caulfield Grammar School edit

While the citation issue I would say has been largely addressed, the writing still needs work. For example, "In 1961 Caulfield became affiliated with Malvern Memorial Grammar School, which became the school's Malvern House in 1971, a primary school located in the Valentine's Mansion, and its students began to wear the Caulfield Grammar School uniform." It's a bit of a mouthful. LuciferMorgan (talk) 22:46, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Caulfield logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Caulfield logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:58, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rekha Luther edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Rekha Luther, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Rekha Luther. B. Tania Zaetta edit

Hi Harro5. I have removed your recent addition to the Tania Zaetta article. I believe the content breaches the letter and the spirit of Wikipedia policy, specifically Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. The whole "story" at this stage is unsourced speculation denied by all parties and inclusion breaches the "do no harm" principle in the BLP policy. Happy to discuss this further should you wish but I will continue to remove any and all content on this issue. Regards, Mattinbgn\talk 04:15, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I take your point about the media attention as being factual (i.e. there is media attention on this issue and an inquiry is being held) however my point is that we should not add to the indignity that the subject of this article must be feeling at present. Her privacy has been horribly breached by the government and we should not be adding to the offence. Over and above any legal concerns, I believe strongly we have a moral duty to "do no harm" and repeating innuendo and rumour, even in the form of discussing the fact of allegations, reports etc, I believe adds to the initial offence. I know there was no malicious intent in your addition, I just didn't see it as appropriate in the circumstances. Finally, on your point about allegations being important, this is a bit like the old chestnut of asking someone "When did you stop beating your wife?" and when a denial is issued then reporting "Man denies beating wife". The allegation is what causes the harm and reporting the denial only adds to it. Sorry for the long-winded explanation but BLP is a bit of a hobby-horse for me. If anything will kill the project, our treatment of living people will. Cheers and thanks for your understanding, Mattinbgn\talk 07:46, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the quick response, so it's basically that there has been no secondary independent sources stated correct that warrant it's notability? disclosure: I helped Streetdoc write the article. Harro5, you said "Doesn't indicate importance or significance of a group/company/etc." What does it need to show significance? numbers of shows? More sources? Awards won? The article as written and the references provided show the subject to be a long-lasting (20 years +)regional theater group that regularly produces plays. It is clearly significant in the region. Is this any less significant than a local school or historic event? Both of these have WP articles that are more poorly sourced. User_talk:Canadasprincess#September_2008 edit

Don't you think that indef is a bit severe? This user has less that 15 edits. And on top of that, you were involved in this dispute. You should not be blocking people you are in dispute with. I'm very inclined to shorten this block.RlevseTalk 12:13, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The user page thing is what I was talking about. I don't view it as vandal only either. Though it is also true she's mainly been promoting herself. I think I'll shorten and leave some comments. RlevseTalk 12:28, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nick Barlupe/ deleted article edit

Hello, i'm sending you this message concerning Nicholas Balrupe and his Wikipedia article that was deleted. Nicholas Barlupe is a 19 year old American stand up comedian who should be legitimately recognized as a notable alumni and should have a well informed Wikipedia article. I am a former high school teacher of his while he was attending Woodcreek high school in Roseville CA. I ask that you please do not delete his article. I appreciate your time, Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 6thave (talkcontribs) 08:06, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Breakers.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Breakers.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:41, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

breaker (band) article being deleted by you edit

i don't know if you know this but breaker is actually a real heavy metal band from cleveland, ohio USA (1982-1992, 2000-current) and they do deserve to have a wikipedia page. i don't understand why but i see you deleted an article for them over two years ago, i would seriously like to suggest you allow us fans of breaker the opportunity to make them a wiki page.

please respond to me here or at atomiccrash@alltel.net if you have any questions... but please i urge you to allow the creation of a breaker (band) page on wikipedia. they have fans all over the world and especially in germany and they're also referenced a few times on wiki pages already with a 'red link'!!

thank you. Derica (talk) 03:21, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Harro5. Per last year, we are now closing in on another milestone for AUS, with 178 current GAs. Well, since you participated in the GA drive last year with Caulfield Grammar School, this is another rallying cry to WP:AWNB. YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 05:03, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notable Alumni on USMA Page edit

Hi there, I saw you added internal links to the many of the most notable alumni. I do have a question though. It is my understanding that if a person is referenced more than once in an article, wikipedia convention is that you are supposed to only internally link them the first time that they appear. The only notable graduate on the list that does not appear previously in the article is Jefferson Davis. Based on this convention, do you think the internal links to Grant, Ike, MacArthur, Bradley, ect should be removed? I'm either way on it, because given that they are being featured as notable grads, it does make sense to link to their own pages from this place in the article. I'm still a little new at editing Wikipedia, so I'm not sure about this one. Thanks for contributing to the USMA article.--Ahodges7 (talk) 13:42, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lists of Schools in Australia edit

No, Private Schools Are either "Catholic" (founded and/or run by the catholic church) or "Indepenent" (other religions/non religious). schools that select students through a test are "Selective" Schools, only New South Wales and Victoria have these. Goverment schools are usally called "public" schools. this is an Australian article, it should use australian terminology.--User:Decat2 May 9, 2009 —Preceding Decat2 (talk) 06:22, 9 May 2009 (UTC) Reply

Speedy deletion of "Charles M. Blow" edit

A page you created, Charles M. Blow, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for biographies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. CTJF83Talk 05:12, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Charles M. Blow edit

Every editor for a newspaper isn't notable enough for a Wikipedia article. I readded the tag, as page creators can not remove those tags. You may, however, add a {{holdon}}, if you don't think it should be deleted. CTJF83Talk 05:17, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Being an admin you should have known not to do that then. What makes him any more notable than any other columnist for any other paper? CTJF83Talk 05:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Editor's survey edit

Hi Harro5. My name is Mike Lyons and I am a doctoral student at Indiana University. I am conducting research on the writing and editing of high traffic “current events” articles on Wikipedia. I have noticed in the talk page archives at Barack Obama that you have contributed to the editing or maintenance of the article. I was hoping you would agree to fill out a brief survey about your experience. This study aims to help expand our thinking about collaborative knowledge production. Believe me I share your likely disdain for surveys but your participation would be immensely helpful in making the study a success. A link to the survey is included below.

Proposed deletion of David Shallcross edit

The article David Shallcross has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:PROF.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Harro5! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Kenneth Ross - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File source problem with File:Chertoffinaug.JPG edit

Thank you for uploading File:Chertoffinaug.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:50, 1 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:50, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Vivek Wadhwa edit

The article Vivek Wadhwa has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability marginal, no new evidence of notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. John Nagle (talk) 17:26, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's iffy. See what I just wrote on Talk:Vivek Wadhwa. The current article is a resume. His "academic appointments" are all hanger-on type positions, and don't meet WP:PROF. If he's notable, it's for his work on Y2K COBOL program conversion tools. --John Nagle (talk) 19:54, 4 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
