Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota (transl. What If?) is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Naseeruddin Shah. The film stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Ayesha Takia, Jimmy Sheirgill, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani and Saroj Khan. The film explores four stories which eventually become intertwined with 9/11.[1][2][3][4][5]

Plot
editThe film narrates four stories of six characters who are not related in any way other than the fact that they were all connected to the two planes that crashed into the Twin Towers on September 11 attacks.
- Tilottama Das-Punj (Konkona Sen Sharma) is happily married to Hemant (Jimmy Sheirgill), whom she met online. However, their time together is cut short when Hemant is required to travel to the US as part of his job. Tilottama is left with her mother-in-law, who does not want her contact him. She is eventually able to join her husband in the US, however, she fortunately misses the doomed flight and reunites with her husband thanks to the help of a good Samaritan.
- Salim Rajabali (Irrfan Khan) is the rich son of a powerful godmother. He unfortunately, gets involved in a murder case and finds out that his girlfriend, Namrata has been cheating on him. Before the situation gets out of hand, he fleeds the country. He reaches New York and visits the World Trade Center to meet a friend. Unfortunately, he is killed when the hijacked plane crashes into the tower he was in.
- Rahul Bhide (Ankur Khanna) is a poor yet academically bright student. He is over the moon when he receives an offer to study at a prestigious university in the US. However, his excitement is short-lived by his shortage of money. As he is about to give up hope, his friend Khushboo helps pay for his studies. Unfortunately, he was a passenger on the doomed plane and does not survive.
- Rajubhai Patel is an event organizer for a popular foreign television show. His ex-girlfriend Tara mortgages her house to pay for her daughter Payal to visit him. Unfortunately, Rajubhai and Payal are passengers on the doomed flights and do not survive.
