Join Up!
editCome on "Wire" lovers, join this project and make Wikipedia articles about "The Wire" great! Creamy3 (talk) 19:39, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Where was this proposed to the Wikiproject council? Wouldn't it be more appropriate as a taskforce of WP:TV? Why are there so many users with Creamy in their name who made their first edits today?--Opark 77 (talk) 22:18, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
To Do List
editHello WikiProject The Wire members and welcome! As you can see, I've added the To Do List from The Wire's talk page and added it to our Project Page. Let's get started on this puppy, what do you say? Does anyone know how to do a newsletter? Ciao! Creamy3 (talk) 22:33, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for copying that over. Looks good. Good work on the two S1 writer stubs. I'm not sure if they'll last as they haven't done much else as far as I can tell. I'm hoping to chip in a little over the weekend but am out of time for tonight.--Opark 77 (talk) 23:00, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for everything Opark 77. Creamy3 (talk) 02:18, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Melnick and Choksey
editI notice those two writer stubs have now been proposed to deletion. I'd suggest that if consensus is that these are non-notable rather than deleting this material it would be better merged into the List of The Wire writers and directors.--Opark 77 (talk) 11:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Artistic Merits added
editHi, I recently added an Artistic Merits section to the main Wire wiki page. I am not sure if this is the best title for this category (perhaps Stylistics/Symbolism would be more suited) Basically i think there is a whole other level to the wire which can't be explored in straight plot or character descriptions which is concerned with they stylistics and symbolism employed in the wire. I think it would be good to expand this section —Preceding unsigned comment added by UnkoDisaster (talk • contribs) 00:42, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia Weekly podcast about television: you're invited
editOn Thursday, at 11 am EST (15:00 UTC Wikipedia time), there will be a podcast discussion on Skype with television scholar Jason Mittell, who has written extensively about The Wire. If you'd like to participate, please sign up: Wikipedia:WikipediaWeekly/Episode76. --ragesoss (talk) 05:33, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Is anyone active here?
editIf so, there's a discussion where I would really appreciate a reply.
Also, a user is changing information in infoboxes that I don't think is correct. See [1].
Thanks. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 13:47, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Multiple Issues?
editI'm new to this. I'm contributing because I'm surprised that the Wikipedia editors see the need to question the need for informative detail on what is widely regarded as one of the best TV serials of recent years. For anyone attempting to study and follow the complex and nuanced plots and characters, the present coverage is invaluable, and, apart from the correction of any inaccuracies, the episode guides should not be cut for the forseeable future. - As a big fan of The Wire I have to agree with the editors, it's a mess. A loving act would be to take an ax to the current episode page format, half of every page is useless filler. It's everything that an encyclopedic article on a subject should not be that stands because nobody seems to care.Skeith (talk) 03:28, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
editHello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
editHello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

A new newsletter directory is out!
editA new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.
