Request for african ancestry box edit

Could someone make an African Ancestry (possibly afro-american) ancestry box because I am not black but my grandmother is and I would like to represent it.Squall1991 21:19, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Request for first fleet box edit

I would like to request a box for those of us descended from the convicts who came to Australia on the First Fleet.Squall1991 21:19, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

"American Box" is racist edit

The Ellis Island inclusion in that userbox focuses solely on European-American immigration. By implication, then, are all non Euro-Americans NOT real Americans?

Not in the least, although the template's name could be a bit more subtle. A lot of Americans can trace their ancestry back to Ellis Island (perhaps {{User Ellis Island}} would be a better name...?). Others, however, may be of Native American ancestry, or maybe of Japanese descent, or Puerto Rican, and can use those userboxes. If your ancestry isn't covered by the template, then use one of the others, or make one that does cover your ancestry. Grutness...wha? 07:26, 10 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

steps edit

Would anyone be interested in (better yet, willing to make) a userbox for us stepparents? Although I do like the idea of people seeing that I'm both a father and childless and getting confused --♥ «Charles A. L.» 18:44, 20 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Babel-like template edit

I am familiar with the Babel language template (I may be using the wrong words) where it's feasible to section-off the languages one speaks... Is there, by any chance, a similar template for one's ancestry? I have ancestors from several different countries and was hoping to make a neat section on my userpage. --Brian1979 22:48, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Swiss ancestry box edit

If anyone is able, I'd very much appreciate if a Swiss ancestry box could be made. --Brian1979 01:56, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I second that emotion. I'd make it myself if I knew how. Lewiscode 01:04, 2 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Only one gender in the main gallery edit

Why the "female" userbox was moved via the German userbox solution? From what I read, I thought that was mainly done only with controversial userboxes. Is it needing to be worked on due to a botched code or something? The reason I'm considering that is because the other userboxes regarding gender are on there. Not that it's a big deal, I was just curious as to why it was moved. --Elec 16:51, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm working on moving the male one as well, there's just more links to correct, so it's taking longer. —Mira 05:47, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lifestyle edit

I've added the lifestyle userbox category. For now it will only contain one userbox by me but I will add more userboxes.

Got removed. Don't really understand why as I never found how it violented the userbox policy.

Sexual Orientation edit

No??? I think it'd be good. Tell me if it's located somewhere else, I looked in every category it could be in, but couldn't find it.

There are a host of sexual orientation userboxes which used to be previewed on a user page; I'm going to restore the list here. TAnthony 20:59, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Religion edit

I'm feeling somewhat left out here. Would a ubx that at least gives a nod to Atheism be considered "controlversial" if put in that section? I can't find any user-made ones, but if anybody does find one, let me know. Thadius856 02:53, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Muslim userbox, Userbox Migration Policy, problem with the tlrow template edit

1. As for the Muslim userbox, it doesn't have its own page as its own page was recently deleted. Per the [[Wikipedia:Userbox_migration| Userbox Migration policy], all of the religion userboxes should be moved to user namespace. The Muslim one was just the first one to be moved.

2. Please don't be like the recent anonymous user (just an IP address) who replaced the first userbox here with the second:

  This user is a Muslim.
 This user is a Muslim.

. I don't care if the one from MiraLuka's userspace (the second one) has Arabic script in it, it seriously looks like balls and the first one is the recognized Muslim symbol anyway.

3. The {{tlrow| template has a problem with images from Wikimedia Commons. As per the Wikimedia Commons image policy, most of the images currently shown in userboxes will be deleted as Wikimedia Commons images can usually be freely used in place of images from Wikipedia and it's policy to not have duplicate images. For instance, [[Image:something]] links just fine to an image and it really doesn't matter whether the image is on Wikimedia or Wikipedia. However, the tlrow template has a problem with this, as I stated earlier. It's being worked on, but nothing much will probably be happening with it until about the end of next week. Anyway, that's why the image isn't showing up in some userboxes. Banaticus 09:42, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looks like balls? That's the word for Allah!
Anyhoo it doesn't matter to me which symbol it is, I just found the userbox through a Wikipedia

search and placed it in its own page. Well, thanks for the thorough explaination, I appreciate it. Though I'm still perplexed as to why the Muslim user template is the only one and it has been 5 days already, so what is the delay with the others? --Inahet 19:39, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I find it kind of ironic that the Muslim usebox was moved to user space but the one for Scientology wasn't. oTHErONE (Contribs) 11:53, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Religious Userboxes edit

Why aren't there userboxes for religion?

Tamil userbox edit

I would like to know how to go about creating or requesting one or more userboxes for Tamil ethnicity.

ex:

"This user is proud to be Tamil"
"This user is of Tamil ethnicity"
"This user is an ethnic Tamil"

For the pic, it would be similar to the Dravidian userbox pic except it would show the map of Tamil Nadu, and Northeastern Sri Lanka, which depicts where the ethnic Tamils originate. If someone could point me in the right direction on going about this it would be highly appreciate.

Thank you.

Flag of Zimbabwe edit

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the flag of Zimbabwe doing behind the Wiki logo on the Wikipedia:Userboxes/Life page? Note that i have nothing against it, i even like flags, but why the flag of Zimbabwe? I'm really wondering. It is possible that the answer be right under my nose, but i'm not seeing it.

Fair use rationale for Image:Greater Manchester County Council Arms.png edit

Image:Greater Manchester County Council Arms.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Pedophilia box edit

You who reverted my revert with an IP address, please note that Wikipedia works with consensus. There needs to be a consensus to add new boxes on the page, and usually there is if the boxes are not divisive. Pedophilia as an act is illegal, and I disagree about that kind of boxes here. I can't revert your edit until tomorrow or later because I'd be reverting too many times a day, but for that box to stay a consensus has to be worked on this talk page. Best regards Rhanyeia 16:37, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually I could revert once more. Maybe I'll do it later in the evening. Best regards Rhanyeia 16:44, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

British Request edit

There's a userbox saying "This user is of British ancestery" and one saying "This user is proud to be British," but can someone please just make one saying "This user is a Brit?" i've got no clue how to make Userboxes myself. AlmightyClam (talk) 12:22, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

All right, Clam...(this is my first try at making public userboxes). Howzabout this?
This user is a Brit. Period.

Scottish Clans? edit

Does anyone know if there are userboxes for the many Scottish clans? Im of the Clan Sinclair myself. I might just go ahead and make one for that in particular but I think it would be cool to have a whole bunch for anyone who is part of one. Im just gonna make a simple one, "This user is of the Clan Sinclair, a Scoto-Norman clan and has the Holy Grail buried in his back-garden." or something along those lines, with a .svg or .png of the clan tartan, what do you think? :) Terrasidius (talk) 22:09, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

EDIT: just created one!

This user is of the Clan Sinclair, a Scoto-Norman clan.
"Revela Domino opera tua."

Using a very nice .png by this guy on Commons, he has made a whole bunch ergo making it alot easier to do boxs for all the other clans! :D ΤΕΡΡΑΣΙΔΙΩΣ(Ταλκ) 23:42, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Straight (Male/Female)" userboxes, and section? edit

I noticed that the "is a Straight (Male or Female)" boxes are classified under the "Sex/gender" section, while the gay/lesbian/bisexual userboxes are classified under the "Sexuality" section. I would think anything relating to sexual orientation would go under the "Sexuality" section, whether it is for gay, straight, or bi users? For a second looking at the "Sex/gender" section, I thought that there weren't any gay userboxes :P scooteytalk 06:22, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gender Options edit

As someone who identifies as non-binary, there should be other options. Also, "Other" and "Transexual" should be updated to "Transgender" as that is the PROPER term. --Travis H. O. (talk) 15:59, 2 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Tho97: I came here thinking the same. However, note Template:Userbox Genderqueer and the userboxes at Category:Transgender Wikipedians. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 19:46, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Florian Blaschke: I don't identify as genderqueer or transgender. So neither would be an option for me. --Travis H. O. (talk) 14:45, 9 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Transgender userbox edit

I remember that about a year ago, I saw some guidelines on how to request a userbox being added to the page. I can't find those guidelines anymore, so I'm posting this just to go sure I don't breach them.

It would be great if the userbox I've created that I've inserted below could be added to the page. For now, the only transgender userbox on the page uses the term "transsexual", a term that many trans people, including myself, reject, find misleading, or even offensive.

 This user is transgender.

Under 15 userbox edit
