Wikiversity and psychology edit

I just came across http://www.psychologicalscience.org/apswi and noticed that the focus of this initiative appears to be on WP. I'd like to invite members of this project to broaden their scope to include the development of psychology resources, activities, research etc. across the WMF sister projects and I make particular mention of Wikiversity (WV) which accepts lesson plans, curriculum, as well as original research etc. WV tends to provide a much less daunting and much more encouraging editing environment than is often the case on WP, plus WV so often fits the profile academic's work tasks (teaching, research and service) better than the constraints of encyclopedic writing. Some starting points are v:Psychology and v:Category:Psychology.

Some examples of recent courses I've taught on WV include v:Survey research and design in psychology, v:Psychology 102, v:Motivation and emotion, v:Social psychology (psychology). Feel free to join in. Happy to chat more if you're interested. Sincerely, James. -- Jtneill - Talk 11:14, 12 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to add to that - having just followed this page's link to the APS President's call for action which says "The vast majority of entries do not present information in the form in which you teach and think about it" - that while there's of course a lot of valuable work needing doing to cover findings and claims from psychological research, I hope it's also made clear that Wikipedia is not just a textbook or scientific journal EverSince (talk) 13:13, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Links to APS initiative courses and article work? edit

Is there a link / list of APS Initiative Psych courses from past semesters so that we can see evidence of the course structure and articles produced? Perhaps I'm missing it. If not, how to best do? Thanks for your replies. Mjtagler (talk) 15:56, 23 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

APSW portal edit

Have any of you found the APSW portal to be useful? The major limiting problem I see is under "FIND ARTICLES" there is no way to add articles to the list. We are stuck with the "suggested" articles, which I have found limited and in many cases irrelevant (e.g., 340ml ) is listed under Industrial Psychology). Will the portal get out of BETA status in the future? Mjtagler (talk) 22:21, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mjtagler, I had the same issue at first with the find articles section, but I did find a workaround. You can still click on the links within the article there in the find articles section and it will take you to that page. Once you're on that page, you can add the article to your course by clicking the add to course button. As a quick way, all of those articles will link to the psychology wiki page, and from there it will list all of the psychology related articles, or at least an article that is closely enough related to link to the one you want to find.Jlfosternz (talk) 05:39, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I would like to add my course (Fall 2012) to this list please. We are already partway through the assignment, so sooner is better than later. Let me know what is required. Thanks. Intelligence citations bibliography for updating articles--your suggestions are welcomed edit

You may find it helpful while reading or editing articles to look at a bibliography of Intelligence Citations, posted for the use of all Wikipedians who have occasion to edit articles on human intelligence and related issues. I happen to have circulating access to a huge academic research library at a university with an active research program in these issues (and to another library that is one of the ten largest public library systems in the United States) and have been researching these issues since 1989. You are welcome to use these citations for your own research. You can help other Wikipedians by suggesting new sources through comments on that page. It will be extremely helpful for articles on human intelligence to edit them according to the Wikipedia standards for reliable sources for medicine-related articles, as it is important to get these issues as well verified as possible. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 19:15, 11 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ambassadors? edit

Do we have a program for online Wikipedia ambassadors? I have two undergrads doing a project and it would be nice to have an experienced Wikipedia editor (especially an undergrad student) for them to talk to. Or do you know where would be a more appropriate place to look?

Thanks!

Best wishes, Bill

How active is APS in this initiative? edit

Hello, all, my team has been disseminating psychological assessment tools in Wikipedia. Check out our progress here.

It would be great to hear more about what APS has been up to beyond what's here and on the APS website! Ongmianli (talk) 19:43, 8 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
