How to assess articles

In order to track articles under the scope of WikiProject Writing, participants must tag articles with the WikiProject Writing banner (see example). Additionally, you may assess content and assign importance to each article by adding parameters to the banner. These tasks allow us to widen the scope of WikiProject Writing. A simple way to complete this is by utilizing the Rater tool, this allows you to add a banner in visual editor mode. You may also use wikitext using source editor. A step by step guide on how to complete this is located below.

  1. Head to the ‘Review and assessment’ section of WikiProject Writing. Click on one of the categories listed beside the unassessed article section of the quality and importance table. You can also find a list of unassessed writing articles here and a list of unknown-importance writing articles here.
  2. Head to the talk page of an article you wish to evaluate. Click on the “More” dropdown menu found on the top right-hand side of the page. Select “Rater” from the menu and head to the category for WikiProject Writing.
  3. Two dropdown menus are available next to the project for class (quality) and importance ratings. Select the ratings you deem most appropriate and publish your changes. You may need to refresh the page for your edits to show up on the WikiProject Writing banner.
