Wikipedia:WikiProject South Australia/To-do/Notable South Australians 1885
Wikisource has a book written in 1885 with brief biographies of "Notable South Australians" by George E. Loyau. Many of these already have Wikipedia articles, so this is a list to see how many.
The names have been turned to wikilinks, and are in the process of being checked for validity. Ticked articles are the right person (or someone with an article and that name and a connection to SA before 1885), but not yet reviewed for content or reference. Some of the crosses are against disambiguation pages which did not contain a match on the day checked. Any that did have been disambiguated and ticked.
The plan
editThe plan is to review all the names
- tick the right ones
- disambiguate and tick the ones that point to disambig pages with the right person in them
- cross the ones that point to an article about someone else
- cross the ones that point to a disambig page that doesn't have this person
- see if there is an article somewhere else for people with cross, disambig and tick
- If not, identify a unique article title for this person and disambig
- Consider migrating this to the wikiproject as a to-do list - see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject South Australia#1885 Notable South Australians
- Are all these people in Wikidata?
- Four were linked as described by source (P1343) Notable South Australians (Q43346523) - [1]
- Find extant articles for red links such as those with initials
- Consider creating new articles where plausible for red links
- Add material in this book that is not presently in Wikipedia, including reference
- add infoboxes, succession boxes etc
Many of the ticked articles could do with some cleanup - many seem to be well-referenced to Trove, but no infobox, succession box (for parliament etc), and focus on their activities in Australia, while this book tends to focus on the earlier history of adult immigrants, perhaps assuming the reader is familiar with recent activities.
