Wikipedia:WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom/Politicians
This page is a guideline of how the Politics of the United Kingdom WikiProject should handle articles related to Politicians within the United Kingdom.
Assessment
editAll Politicians' articles should be tagged with the {{WP UK Politics}} banner and assessed on their quality and importance to the project.
Quality
editArticles should be judged on the standard quality scale set out by the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team, which is replicated on this project's Assessment page.
Importance
editThe importance assessment is a judgement by each individual WikiProject on what they consider to be their priority articles. In theory the Top importance articles should be the first to reach a level of quality sufficient to be included in Version 1.0 (or a subsequent version) while Low importance articles will usually reach the same level of quality at a later stage.
The following table lists the importance criteria for political party articles within the WikiProject.
Label | Criteria |
---|---|
Top | Prime Ministers, members of cabinet and opposition equivalents (applies to national and devolved levels) and leaders of parties rated as Top or High importance Examples: Gordon Brown, Winston Churchill, Alex Salmond, Ed Balls, Nick Griffin |
High | Non-cabinet ministers and opposition equivalents, leaders of parties rated as Mid importance and current Chairs of select committees Examples: Stephen O'Brien, Jane Kennedy |
Mid | Any current MPs/MSPs/AMs/MLAs/MEPs/Lords and leaders of parties rated as Low importance Examples: Mike Hall, Karen Sinclair |
Low | Any former MPs/MSPs/AMs/MLAs/MEPs/Lords and notable candidates who failed to be elected Examples: Peter Morrison, Tamsin Dunwoody |
Exceptions
editDue to the large number of politicians in the UK (past and present) the above criteria will never be able to cover every individual adequately. If you feel that an exception to the criteria should be made, please add a new section to the project talk page to explain why you think an exception is necessary. If there are no objections then you are free to make the exception.
