Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
Shakira has accumulated a large catalog of hits, though many of their articles are in rough shape. These pages could really benefit from a WikiProject devoted specifically to them, on top of the fact that it would be helpful to receive assistance from editors who are familiar with Shakira and her work.

  6. WonderBoy1998 (talk · contribs) Definitely yes! Shakira needs a wikiproject and is a really important artist. Hopefully this project will improve the general quality of her articles. I'm definitely into this and I've already started working on some articles.

  1. NO! God no! what is wrong with you people? I mean, what? Just because she is Shakira, and yes, she is popular and has a lot of articles related to her, does not mean that deserves a whole WikiProject, WikiProjects are already weak as they are to be creating more and more specific ones, and a whole WikiProject dedicated to one person is ludicrous! Cher doesn't even have one and Cher has a many more articles related to her than there are about Shakira! if you want to work on those projects then create a subgroup within an existing WikiProject and then do it, the whole maintenance of the WikiProject would take time away from working on Shakira-related projects in any case so it would be detrimental. mijotoba (talk) 21:50, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the Beyonce, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, etc. WikiProjects have proved pretty successful in promoting several articles to GA. Shakira-related articles aren't looking so good right now (missing information, sloppy, etc.) and could really use some extensive work done to them.
