Hi all

I’m having problems getting my first contribution here. I need references for the band I’m writing about. I’ve put in the record label that they are on, which is a valid one which also is published on Wikipedia. Links to that they playing on both the biggest punk festival in America and also the biggest one in the world. I’ve put links to their release album together with one of the biggest punk rock bands in the world, NOFX. If someone could please take a minute and see what I’m missing if anything. Best regards

Hi Timmen77. Mystic Records is a reliable source, but not an indpendent source, because they have a financial interest in promoting artists on their label. The same is true for any venue where the band plays or any group with which they cooperate on a project. Another problem with the cited sources is that their coverage of the subject lacks depth. Punkoiuk looks like a group blog, which would not be a reliable source, but if you think it's something else you can ask at WP:RSN whether it would be reliable for supporting a specific statement in the draft.

Significant coverage in an independent reliable source would be something like several paragraphs in Svenska Dagbladet, The Guardian, or one of the recommended sources from Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources. General references, where the references are merely clustered in the references section, have several disadvantages compared to inline citations, which show which statements in the draft are supported by which sources. See WP:REFB for how to provide inline citations. Without inline citations, readers may wonder where information like "Hampus Norrgren joined the band in 2002" came from, and may remove that unsourced information.

Readers may suspect that such details came from your personal knowledge. If you have a close connection to the band, then you have a conflict of interest and it's a bad idea for you to write about the band here. If you insist on writing about it, then it is essential that you disclose your connection. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:44, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

I would like to know why my draft was rejected.I feel it was of pristine quality and is one of the best articles to ever touch Wikipedia. Also I believe this article would boost Wikipedia's traffic to tremendous heights!. My first article was declined around a month ago and since then I have made a handful of edits and reference updates. Is there anyting you can advise I correct on my page to aid in the review process?

Hi Epshelley. Your draft was declined last time because it did not indicate that the subject is notable. You need to show that he has been the subject of significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. Since your last submission, you have only added three references. One I'm unable to access to assess. The second only contains a short quote from Cummins in an article about something else – this is not significant coverage. The third is more useful as a biographical source but it is a flier for a speaking event, not independent coverage that shows notability. I doubt these three sources will be enough to pass review. If they're all you can find, Cummins probably isn't notable enough to include in Wikipedia at this time. –  (talk) 10:05, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

@Epshelley: Not dead, but [1] requires a subscription to access. That's not a problem – there are probably other editors who can access it. – Joe (talk) 09:15, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
