If I put links/referances to show that the party is registered with the UK Electoral Commision will that be ok then? (Prule1 (talk) 02:40, 12 April 2014 (UTC))[reply]

@Prule1: Your entry has no references at all. Furthermore, you have to establish notability. Simply providing proof of being a registered party is insufficient to that end. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:58, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Citing newspaper sources

edit

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Robert Pyne (politician)

Can someone please tell me now to use newspapers as a cited source when the articles in the publication aren't available on the website, such as older newspaper articles. Thank you. Icuraj (talk) 22:37, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the link to your draft.
To editor Icuraj: What you've done so far is just fine. Sources do not have to be available online, and you've already provided enough information for people to check the specific articles. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 23:54, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Icuraj: Let me put a finer point on my declination. Anon126 is right about sources not having to be online. I declined Robert Pyne (politician) because I have a hard time beliveing articles from The Cairns Post don't exist online and I'm not willing to assume good faith. If you'd like to cite articles from newspapers, {{Cite news}} is great for that. Fill in the fields (including date, issue, page, title, etc.) and that will help other editors to find those sources. Chris Troutman (talk) 21:52, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Chris. The Cairns Post doesn't have the older articles online. If I filled in more fields, like you suggested, should I resubmit the article. Thank you for any advice. Icuraj (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:59, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Icuraj: No problem. Yes, I would resubmit the article as other editors might then be able to verify those articles. (As you might imagine, we don't have old copies of The Cairns Post here in Los Angeles, so I can't verify them.) If the newspaper articles are legitimate then I think Robert Pyne passes general notability although he doesn't pass WP:NPOL. Another editor may disagree, however. Good luck to you. Thanks so much Chris. I really appreciate you getting back to me and your advice. Icuraj — Preceding undated comment added 08:43, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
