Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Jeff Schneider I noticed under "revivers tool" the question was raised, The page Jeff Schneider already exists. Please verify that it is not a copy of this submission. This is to verify that this is not a copy. Thank You, Camus312 (Jeff Schneider (talk) 13:13, 10 April 2014 (UTC))[reply]

To editor Camus312:
Later. When the article is accepted, the reviewer will check this and rename the article to something like Jeff Schneider (artist). Anon126 (talk - contribs) 06:13, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

questions on my submission

edit

I don't really understand why my article [1]was not accepted. I have modeled it off of articles on similar people such as Daniel Ashe and Wayne Pacelle. Their articles have similar links and references. Can you be more specific on what I can do without just using general wiki code? thanks. Cinhoffman013 (talk) 20:03, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Cinhoffman013: Your article lacks the reliable sources necessary to establish the subject's notability. Also, don't point to other articles to excuse your own shortfalls. There are thousands of deficient articles on Wikipedia and you're welcome to help nominate them for deletion. To fix your submission, find newspaper and magazine articles that discuss the subject. No one is notable simply because they themselves published articles or books. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:23, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If we have "factual" references (that may have not have an ISBN) in addition to publications written by third parties that corroborate our historical facts even if external links to the organization's webpage, aren't these valid if they are referenced?

I was a little miffed as to why the article was rejected due to lack of "reliable" resources. After reviewing other "like" organizations, I see they too reference their historical facts from books/journals written by others as well as their own webpage and from their organizational manuals.

We want to be in compliance with Wikipedia and trust we can come to a mutual resolve

Thank you,

There are three major problems I can see with regard to that article submission. First, as already explained, references to significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources are required in order to prove notability by Wikipedia's standards. Second, large parts of the submission are copied from the organisation's own website, and this makes it likely to be a copyright violation. Third, as already noted on the submission, copying the organisation's own website has also resulted in promotional and non-encyclopedic language. For example, the sentence "They bore their burdens in the heat of the day" does not appear to impart any concrete facts such as would be useful in an encyclopedia. The submission would likely need to be completely re-written to deal with these major problems.
Looking at articles about what may be perceived as "like" organisations is not generally the best way to find suitable examples. Instead, you could look at some recognised Good Articles on similar topics from the list at Wikipedia:Good articles/Philosophy and religion#Religious movements, traditions and organizations.
