Please help me with the referencing part, so, i can publish it on wikipedia.

Take a look at WP:Referencing for beginners Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:10, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

it is a big stacker — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.118.120.64 (talk) 01:17, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we need a separate article for that, but if you have reliable sources such as engineering magazines, you could add something to the main stacker article. Huon (talk) 23:40, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This Article was declined because the footnotes did not cite enough independent sources. However, the reviewer felt that "this woman certainly meets WP:Notability criteria". I hope you can help me out with a couple of questions I have that would help me suitably edit the submission:

1. I understand the issue about the footnotes. Can I assume that WP is OK with the rest of the contents?

2. 7 of 12 footnotes are works by the subject and I will place them under the WORKS heading. However, the other 5 are "independent sources". Around how many are 'sufficient'? (I have seen several articles with fewer sources.)

3. Most of the other "independent sources" are in Bengali language publications. Is it OK to use them?

4. When I use a Bengali language reference (say a magazine or book article), should I translate the title to English?

5. Any other advice would be welcome.

Pushan a (talk) 02:22, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1. Not necessarily, reviews usually deal with only one or two issues at a time, but don't worry about that now. Various reviwers have already commented on a variety of matters.
2. There isn't an exact number set as a standard, it depends on the judgement of the reviewer as well as the standing of the source itself - for example a front-page article in a national newspaper would be considered far more significant than just a brief mention in the inside pages of a local paper.
3. Yes. We do not require sources to be in English - if necessary, finding a reviewer who can read Bengali is not difficult.
4. You can if you wish, but always provide the original Bengali title.
5. There are still a few paragraphs that have no references at all.

I have a couple of questions:

1) How to include the logo and the associated information in the article? The information is given below.

Established January, 2013 Type Research Institution Chairman (Board of Governers) Professor CNR Rao Director Professor Ashok K Ganguli Location Transit Campus: Habitat Centre in Sector – 64, Phase - 10, Mohali, Punjab, India 30.683529,76.736489 Website www.inst.ac.in

2) I am somehow unable to edit the references. When I am clicking the edit button in references, I dont see my list of references! — Preceding unsigned comment added by INST, Mohali (talkcontribs) 05:34, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, I believe you're looking for an infobox. The one most appropriate here is probably {{infobox university}}. Alternatively you could try to build a custom infobox; take a look at Los Alamos National Laboratory for an example (though I wouldn't follow their color scheme).
The code that generates the references is in the article proper, where the references are cited, not at the end where the footnotes are displayed. You can edit the entire article via the "Edit" tab at the top of the page, but you should be sure to use the preview when editing references - it's easy to make a small mistake and have half the article vanish from view. Do you have a question for us? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:04, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

On June 11th I asked how to link the English language page, which I had created, to the Russian language page. You said that I should wait until my page had been accepted and then gave instructions on how to proceed. OK, my page has now been accepted. I click on "add links" and fill in the language and page address and guess what happens. "An unexpected error occurred" - "details" and when I click I get "The external client site did not provide page information." On the Russian language site there is no "add links" ("добавить ссылки") or I would have tried to establish the link from the Russian site. Why is that and what do I do next? The address of the Russian page is: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Географ_глобус_пропил OK the link has miraculously appeared and the problem is solved. No action required on your part. Thanks. Our parent company Systemax, has a box on the right with the logo. We would like to add that to our page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Annemiu (talkcontribs) 15:51, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See Template:Infobox Company, but you have far more serious problems to deal with than adding an infobox, see the review comments. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:01, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A brief History of the Patriarchs of the Catholic Church - Patriarchate of Nofth and South America (non papal)

edit

Dear Sir / Madam

This is an independent jurisdiction and like most independent Churches there are no written manuscripts. Would it be acceptable just to list the names and dates of the Patriarchs? Mainline jurisdictions have texts which they can cite unfortunately we do not. Please advise. Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeremy Parker Foster (talkcontribs) 17:52, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Maybe some textbooks on church organization and history in America cover this patriarchate? Newspapers or reputable magazines might also serve. Huon (talk) 23:40, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Please can you help. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Rutan & Tucker We re-submitted this a couple of weeks ago but haven't received any feedback. Know you are backlogged. Can you tell if it is in the queue? Just worried that perhaps it wasn't resubmitted correctly. We have followed all the advice and are hopeful it will be approved. Thank you for your help! Resolved via IRC: Draft is submitted for review, but needs better sources. Huon (talk) 23:40, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Contact Gallery, Norwich, 1986-1999

When it was declined in April I asked for guidance and a reply came from Houn? He suggested that it required more independent references from reliable sources to prove that the Gallery was ‘notable’ and better website referencing. I have since added some of these, taken from art magazine press cuttings, giving dates and website address where applicable and worked on the other references to make them more precise. Is there still a problem here?

If this is ok but you require more information would the following qualify?

Quoting the references of a book about the history of Norwich Twenty Group which has an ISBN number and which mentions the Contact Gallery in the text.

The Norfolk Record Office quoting the reference number where the archives of the gallery are stored.

It would be very helpful please if you could be specific about your requirements. I have read through a lot of your guidance information but am still struggling to understand how to satisfy your requirements in this instance. Woodbutts (talk) 19:33, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, please have a look at WP:Referencing for beginners: That page, especially the video, explains how to easily add nicely-formatted footnotes. The article text itself should not contain external links. I have tidied up the Artists Newsletter Magazine though I made up the title myself.
Secondly, the sources should actually support what they're cited for. Many of the websites your external links point to don't even mention Contact Gallery.
Thirdly, you shouldn't quote large excerpts of text as you do with the Artists Newsletter Magazine - that's a copyright violation. Instead, you should summarize in your own words what the source says about the gallery.
We're looking for reliable sources that are independent of the subject, sources with editorial oversight and a reputation for fact-checking. Magazine articles like the Artists Newsletter one, newspaper articles or maybe a profile in a book published by a reputable publisher are what we're looking for.
