This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please consider asking this question at the Wikipedia:Reference desk. They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what the Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps. The draft is currently empty. Is there anything specific you need help with? Huon (talk) 09:32, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir,

We do not understand why our article on IndoWordNet is not getting published in the wikipedia. If you compare the writeup with EuroWordNet which is in the wikipedia already, IndoWordNet is vastly more informative. Is it the case that IndoWordnet is a relatively new endeavour and therefore more time is needed before it comes into the encyclopedia? But if you consider the importance of Indian languages and also the importance of wordnets, the article is very suitable for wikipedia. Kindly guide us as to what we should do. other stuff exists, but every draft is considered on its own merits. The problem is not entirely that IndoWorldNet is too young, but rather that there is insufficient coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. For example, the Encyclopedia Britannica article doesn't even mention IndoWorldNet, and I doubt the 1998 articles, wtitten two years before the launch of IndoWorldNet, will have much to say on the subject either. That leaves us with two talks given at conferences on WorldNet, and such talks are unfortunately much less reliable than papers published in peer-reviewed archives. Conversely, significant parts of the draft are not supported by any references at all. Huon (talk) 09:32, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

making lead section have a heading font

When I try to make my lead section have heading font it moves it below table of contents. Any suggestions? Thanks Swarshow (talk) 13:54, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Bridget Quebodeaux (Swarshow username)[reply]

Per the Manual of Style, the lead section should not have a section heading. Simply omit it.
As an aside, the draft currently reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article. For example, we usually do not mention our readers or article authors ("Most of us..."). Also, the one reference I could easily check online did not actually mention DEFT. Huon (talk) 14:41, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. My article submission was reviewed by Wiki and it is noted that I need "major cleanup." I understand that this needs more sourcing in order to be sumbmitted. However I want to check how much of this requires sourcing. This living person happens to be my father. He was a pioneer in Asian-American politics in Philadelphia. I can provide several more published articles from mainstream Philadelphia newspapers, but it is somewhat difficult because most of them were printed in the 1980s (prior to the widespread use of the internet). There are countless articles from Korean newspapers, but I am guessing since it is not in English this would not count as reliable sourcing? Also, much of this article I submitted is based on my father's personal life. Does all of that require sourcing? If he himself contacted wiki would that suffice? Also I am a new york city television broadcast reporter (for NY1 News - there is a wiki profile for the network I work at). If I can prove I am who I say I am would that be sufficient? Please let me know. This submission means a great deal to me. Thank you very much. Hope to hear back soon. The draft in question is in the subject line (YoAn Kim). Cefaan (talk) 21:02, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Newspaper articles are good sources, and per WP:NOENG they need not be in English (though you should provide an English translation of the relevant excerpts, and English sources are preferable when available).
But Wikipedia requires its sources to be published. Personal testimony from your father or yourself is therefore not acceptable as a reference. There would be rather obvious conflicts of interest involved (actually writing an article about a close relative is discouraged for that reason).
Regarding Kim's personal life: I expect that's not what he's notable for. You should stick to what the secondary sources say, and if they focus on his professional life, so should our article. Since Kim is still alive, our guideline on biographies of living persons applies, and we must be especially diligent in providing sources. For example, we should not discuss Kim's health unless a secondary source does so.
The cleanup involves more than just references. For example, there's a "You +1'd this publicly. Undo" in the middle of the article; that certainly does not belong. Huon (talk) 21:47, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
