Aah. I see why people were having trouble with this one. The answer I was after was 1985, where Essendon and Hawthorn played their Round 3 game early, however not as early as I thought. I was laboring under the belief that the match was played on 23 February while I now see it was 23 March. Apologies for everyone who spent time chasing a red herring. Only MC Hammer park also had over 1000 debuts and most of the other traditional Melbourne grounds were in the 900s. Speaking of geographic location, a few bullies recently visited Canberra on a bit of a publicity trip. My mate and his four year old kid got a photo with four of them. One is a young player who only played one game last year, but has just about played every game this year (can't quite remember, must be close to all, sorry about being so imprecise and lazy). One is injured who would just about be in our best 25 but who hasn't played this year and was taken in the same draft as Cooney. Another is a midfield regular who has played every game this year. Another is forward/midfielder who has also just about played every game this year and one or two years ago pipped Lucas Neill as the sexiest Australian sportsman in some superficial comp somewhere. 2. The player who hadn't played all year and was drafted in the same year as Cooney, did play yesterday (first game this year).
3. The midfileder who has played every game this year, played yesterday and was one of the Bulldogs' biggest possession getters.
4.
