2020 in a nutshell.

The year is about to end. 2020, a harsh year for all of us, will end in a (hopefully) fresh new year. With our own real lives and cyber lives, it has been a complicated and poetic year to interpret, a questionable fire ceremony. A lot of mistakes we do everyday, and it feels like this Hell just makes things worse. The thunderstorm we have to gone through is overwhelming. We lost many of our acquaintances, relatives, fellow humans. Many of us have not managed to successfully pass through this cyclone, and chose to leave this round hospital in peace.

This year seemed as if nothing can be great. And I want to congratulate you for passing through this tough time.

I started editing Wikipedia this year. May 24. I since have tried edit articles I have big interest on. And it's an enthusiasm I cherish. I meet many great people online, who welcome me warmly and collaborate in building the world's largest encyclopedia. Who have amazing personalities and great senses of humor to get through this storm in a piece of cake. Whom guided me when slapped with a deletion nomination. I just wanted to say thank you for making my first year a wonderful one, and I deeply apologize if I had made any bad stuff or treated you unkindly.

Let's see 2020 as a courage booster, in which the hardships it gave us made us better. Made the holes of this project visible and quickly fixed it. With a refurbished policy, ethic, and environment to newcomers and the hosts— I mean, experts. 2020 has made Wikipedia worse and better, and may this be the symbol of a fresh, adult start for this online encyclopedia we all improve in good faith.

To give a huge tribute to this wonderous and disquieting year, here are the many things you all have contributed to in the Wikimedia family. I don't edit in all projects and you may realize that this is not complete. Please be bold and add more things you believe have contributed to Wikipedia's uproaring this year. Anything, from new articles, Wikimedia Foundation's letters, memorable media, funny editors and articles, popcorn-able edit wars, etc. I want this to be a compendium of all the noteworthy things we've done for this movement, this year.

Once again, thank you, and happy editing. GeraldWL 09:39, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
