Template:Shinee singles edit

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the template below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the discussion was Rename to Template:Shinee songs. Template:Shinee is a large template, and having a separate template for the songs is advised in cases like this. If the song articles are deleted or redirected, this discussion can be revisited. Jax 0677 (talk) 17:45, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Shinee singles (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Wholly redundant to Template:Shinee, which contains the singles. In fact, the articles I've looked at had both templates on there, just to indicate the redundancy. Drmies (talk) 22:41, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Keep but change name - This is to keep Template:Shinee from getting too crowded and help categorize the singles according to language and constituent albums. It's common for all artists who have released this many albums, nearly over 10. Since it contains both singles as well as songs, I suggest turning the name to Template:Shinee songs rather than Shinee singles following example of Template:Katy Perry songs. Also, Template:Shinee also include singles, only Japanese not Korean, those are only the (very) few CD/physical singles they have released (not digital singles). Those can be removed if it somehow makes Template:Shinee singles look wholly redundant. FudgeFury(talk|sign|contribs) 05:28, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Keep but change name - I agree with FudgeFury. Let's change the name. If it's possible for Template:Katy Perry songs and Template:Coldplay songs then there should be no reason to delete Shinee's Template. We just need to change the name. --BoikoseLife (talk) 19:28, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. I do see some actual, legit singles listed on this template that are not on Template:Shinee, such as "Ring Ding Dong", so I'm a little confused (maybe I overlooked it). However, there are a lot of songs on this template which have articles but which were never released as singles at all. I'm not sure how they got articles, as surely they fail notability requirements. I think that needs to be dealt with first, and then this template can be revisited to see whether they are any legit differences remaining between it and Template:Shinee. And looks like Template:Shinee could use a review for completeness, as well. Shinyang-i (talk) 05:32, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - Shinyang-i what do you mean by "legit singles"? The template should be re-named to "Shinee songs" and it will be fine, after all others artists like Katy Petty or Lady Gaga have sites for songs which aren't "legit singles" either but no one says something about that. If you want to "deal" with K-pop as you act right now, how about you actually write sections and add reliable sources instead to delete everything and to criticize others work? The most users who try to write K-pop articles are just fans and often very young ones, they have no idea what reliable sources are or not. Don't get me wrong I do agree with you that there are some songs which don't really need a site like 'Señorita' or 'Get Down'. But most of the songs listed on the template were promoted by the group but of course most of the songs need better sources which I would love to add but my Korean isn't the best and it's hard to find reliable sources for their earlier songs like 'Replay' and 'Hello'. --BoikoseLife (talk) 11:40, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I made a constructive comment with an aim to improve these two Shinee templates in relation to whether or not one should be deleted. You made a personal attack on me and didn't say anything particularly relevant to the issue at hand (which is the possible deletion of Template:Shinee singles). This is not the place to air your personal grievances. I'm more than willing to discuss with you ways of dealing with the issues at hand, but not with that attitude.
