Missing(?) youtube music video

edit

I used to periodically enjoy a really good instrumental version of "Begin the Beguine" performed with an Irish bouzouki by a duo called something like the Leblondes. (The bouzouki player is blond, and his girlfriend[?] on maracas may have been too.) Now I can't find it anymore. Is it still on youtube? If not, what is the duo's actual name? I can't find them either. Clarityfiend (talk) 07:11, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

American cricket & rugby

edit

Is there cricket and rugby in the United States of America? 86.131.222.15 (talk) 22:23, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes and yes. 136.56.52.157 (talk) 22:57, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As with almost anything, the question of whether they exist in the US is really secondary to how prevalent they are in the US. Looking into the status of those two sports in my own state of NC, cricket seems to be mostly limited to the South Asian communities while rugby has made inroads to the general collegiate, high school, and youth league systems. --User:Khajidha (talk) (contributions) 12:47, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And do they have those in Philadelphia, New York and Washington DC, besides baseball, hockey, basketball, football and soccer? 86.131.222.15 (talk) 22:27, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
2022 Major League Rugby season (USA professional league) finished in June - Rugby New York won the final. There is a Washington DC team but no pro Philadelphia team i don't think. 202.56.51.192 (talk) 23:04, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We do (of course) have articles on:
Cricket in the United States;
Rugby union in the United States; and
Rugby league in the United States.

The forgotten history of cricket in the USA says that cricket was displaced by baseball as America's favourite sport during the Civil War. Alansplodge (talk) 21:19, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Correct; many 19th century U.S. baseball pioneers such as George Wright and Henry Chadwick were former cricket players. However, cricket's popularity went down dramatically when baseball took off after the Civil War. Xuxl (talk) 15:23, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Jim Creighton was an early star in both sports. His approach to pitching helped to revolutionize the pitching aspect of the game, which may have helped to elevate baseball above cricket in the public fancy. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:44, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Rugby has been played at the college level for many years. And American football as we know it was an outgrowth of Rugby. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:45, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, cricket and rugby have existed in the United States for a very long time. But they are niche sports in the 21st century that get almost no mass media attention, and only a tiny percentage of Americans are active fans of these sports. The major American team sports are gridiron football, baseball, basketball and hockey. Association football is moderately popular as well. Golf and tennis are popular but not really team sports. Lacrosse and volleyball are considered minor sports but have an established fan base. Cullen328 (talk) 06:27, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do they have all those sports in every US state including Philadelphia, New York and Washington DC? And don't say gridiron football or American football. Say football. And don't call it Association football or football. Call it soccer. 86.131.222.15 (talk) 22:25, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Philadelphia is not a US state. And don't be giving us orders. We'll call things whatever we want to. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:57, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Washington, DC is also not a state. The state of Washington is 2300 miles away by air. Cullen328 (talk) 23:58, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
