editHome team victory percentage
editIn the MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL, what percent of games are won by the home team? Loraof (talk) 15:21, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- Read this. It was the #1 link when I typed the phrase "Home team winning percentage by sport" into Google. --Jayron32 15:26, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, and sorry. Loraof (talk) 17:41, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- No need to apologize. Why would you think you did anything wrong? --Jayron32 10:44, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry for apologizing (just kidding!). You mentioned it’s the first google hit, and it seems that I should have found that myself before coming here. Loraof (talk) 15:29, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Sometimes it can fail to be obvious as to what to google. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 15:56, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Per Bugs, I meant no offense by including my sources. My only goal is to help you find the sources yourself. That's what I thought was the main purpose of the reference desks. I guess re-reading my comment, it does come off a bit curt, so perhaps I owe an apology. --Jayron32 17:43, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

- As we see all too often, e.g. here, judging the tone of an online post, or what was in the mind of the editor, is an exercise fraught with terrible difficulties, and best left alone. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 21:11, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

No problems. I find the percentages given in the source very interesting: 54% = MLB < NHL < NFL < NBA = 60% (and MLS = 69%! ). Loraof (talk) 21:07, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- You didn't ask about UFC, but here you go. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:10, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- Since that was published, the Dutch have gone from perfect to just 75%, when a Russian dragon toppled their skyscraper. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:24, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
