Carmine Appice - pronounced –? edit
Arising from an office nostalgia-fest we've just been having - how does Carmine Appice pronounce his name? I've only ever seen it in print, and never remember hearing anyone say it (and my office computer has no sound capability, so I can't usefully search on YouTube or the like). We've just had an "I say A-pis and you say a-PEACH-ay moment of confusion.

- Interestingly, his brother Vinny Appice, another well-regarded rock drummer, uses "A-pih-see" as his preferred pronunciation. Such is often the way with Anglicisation of names from other languages (in this case Italian). This pretty good article discusses the history of the brothers, and touches on why they pronounce their names differently. --Jayron32 20:50, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- Just to add to the discussion, here is a short bit of an interview with Carmine, who notes "I say 'a-PIECE', Vinny says 'A-pih-see' " and also notes that there's a third (older) brother (non-famous, presumably) who says "a-PEACH-eh", and then jokingly notes that their sister "is fine, because she got married". [1]. So we have three brothers, with the same spelled last name, who all say it differently. As a total aside, my brother and I have also differentiated how we say our last name, we have a last name that had to be anglicized from French. I use my parent's pronunciation, my brother goes with a different one, and none is in the original French. So these sorts of things do happen. --Jayron32 20:56, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
