MLB All Star Game

- Each year's baseball schedule is released just after the end of the previous season. The first paragraph of the All-Star Game article explains that it is traditionally held on the second Tuesday of July, which would be July 14, 2020. Of course, that's a long way away, so anything is possible. There is currently talk of moving the game to the second Wednesday next year or the year after. — Michael J 14:37, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
- While exceptions exist, the recent trend is to hold the All-Star game at a recently completed or renovated venue; it is designed to be a nationwide showcase of the best of MLB, including the stadium it is played in. Notably as an exception, the 2008 game was held at Old Yankee Stadium, which served as a sort of "retirement party" for the venue, however most of the past two decade's games were held in stadia that had only opened or renovated within the previous 2-3 years. --Jayron32 14:54, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

- Coincidentally, most baseball stadiums have a life of about 30 years before they need to be replaced or need a major upgrade, which also allows them to usually showcase a new stadium. Some cities have never hosted an All-Star game, however, and likely never will; the Tampa Bay Rays play in what is widely regarded as one of the worst stadium in baseball (Tropicana Field), and as long as they play there it may never host a game. The Marlins will likely get a game shortly after they move into Miami Ballpark --Jayron32 01:52, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Bizarre half-remember television/film scene
editOkay, no one will ever get this, but it has been driving me crazy for two months. A half remember television or film scene from my youth:
A blondeish haired male is standing in front of a great big painting of mostly black and red shadow, when asked what it is he replies "my mother's womb" implying he was concious enough to take note and recall that image even back then. I don't remember it it is a comedy or not but that scene is, I presume, supposed to be comedic.
