October 5 edit

South African music edit

Are there any musical instruments (particularly drums or percussion) traditional to South Africa? Music of South Africa covers genres more than it does instruments. Cheers, Fribbulus Xax (talk) 10:54, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kalimba (though not restricted to South Africa)? Deor (talk) 19:32, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We have Category: African musical instruments, Category:Southern African musical instruments and Category:South African musical instruments, which may be of help. --NorwegianBlue talk 20:15, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Water squirt handheld games from the 1970s? Like a water Gameboy? edit

Does anyone remember these? They were puzzle games that contained water, some had hoops that had to be squirted onto pegs. There were various different games. What where they called? They were popular in the late 70s. 90.216.105.231 (talk) 17:31, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just "water game". See this. They are still being produced. -- kainaw 17:34, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I thought they were a 1970s fad, I assumed they would have been outdated with the advent of electronic games. Thanks for the answer. 90.216.105.231 (talk) 19:19, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dude! i remember those growing up!...thay where hard...--Talk Shugoːː 14:22, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can categorically affirm that these were common in the 80s as well. Vranak (talk) 18:08, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Still popular today, my dentist's office has plenty of them to keep the younger patients happy while they wait for their teeth to be cleaned. The Reader who Writes (talk) 01:00, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
