I've listed this article for peer review because I want to nominate this article for GA status.

I hope these comments are helpful. I am currently taking somewhat of a break from reviewing, but I wanted to try and help with this peer review so for that reason, my review will be somewhat short, but hopefully, it will inspire other editors to participate. I have listed my comments below:

  • I would avoid having citations in the lead as it is meant to be an overview of the article and all of that information should be discussed and referenced in the actual article. Citations in the lead are usually restricted to controversial information or quotes.
  • There are some things that I do not believe need to be mentioned in the lead, such as the song behind "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer or the "100 Greatest Girl Group Songs of All Time" listing. For the second part, it is good to mention more broadly retrospective reviews of the song, but I do not see a clear rationale for spotlighting this specific Billboard list and it does give it undue weight compared to other reviews.
  • Items should be consistently linked on their first mention in the article. Examples of this not occurring are: Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards, and Atlantic Records.
  • I would strongly encourage you to look at GAs and FAs for songs to see how they structure them. I would imagine that this song has received a lot of coverage, but the article barely goes into any detail on the lyrics or composition.
  • You should have clear citations to support that this is a disco and soul song, and by that, I mean you would need citations to critics who explicitly reference this song as an example of both genres.
  • The YouTube views are not notable unless it was discussed in a secondary source so that should be removed. Also, the "Music video" section in general is very under-developed.
  • The article uses too many quotes, and they should be used more sparingly. Also, long quotes like the one from Richard Smith from Melody Maker should be avoided.
  • The "Cover versions" section only has one citation. This section will need major work. Everything in the article should be supported by a citation.
  • According to the page statistics, you are not one of the main contributors to this article. Have you done any editing to the article? I could not find anything in the page history, but I may be overlooking it. Either way, I would encourage you to contact the primary contributors to this article. I would also suggest that you reach out to editors who frequently work on music GAs, specifically song GAs.

If I am being completely honest, this article would require a substantial amount of work to pass a GAN to the point that most of the prose would need to be re-written. The structure needs to be reworked and citations needed to be added. Not to sound rude or overly blunt, but this article is nowhere near ready for a GAN in its current state.
