Bad Romance edit

Previous peer review

I've worked on this article intermittently for quite some time now. Much of my contributions were a few months ago when I revamped some sections and added lots of academic sources. While I'm still not fully done yet as I intend to make some changes, I will be grateful for comments on how to improve it to the point it is FA-worthy. FrB.TG (talk) 20:15, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@FrB.TG: I have checked the whole article. Would you check Basshunter article in return? List of issues:

1. "best-of" lists. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
2. "In the US, the song peaked at number" - the full name of the United States should be introduced. Sometimes it looks like it's scary to use full UK and US names if they not appear anywhere in the article. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
3. "The song has been covered by several artists." - any examples? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
4. "These songs were about the various abstract "monsters"—metaphors for her paranoias—she faced during the tour." - it is known what happened there? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
5. They are quotes: "You know that I want you, And you know that I need you, I want your bad, your bad romance" and "I want your love, And I want your revenge, You and me could write a bad romance" - is that correct? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
6. "Gil Kaufman from MTV News compared the song's tempo to Gaga's number-one hit "Poker Face"" - link to "Poker Face" every new section? There is also other words which could be linked every section. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That would be WP:OL
7. "Gaga's persona transformation"? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
8. ... should be added after space? I think it should be without space like this... Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I usually see it after a space.
9. Is this possible to add any references to Synopsis section? 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
This generally does not need a source WP:FILMPLOT.
10. "He believed, for example, that the scenes with Gaga in the bathtub represented baptism and the women with martini were performing communion." - what is the martini? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
11. "hegemonic [hetro]sexuality" - hetro? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
12. "25 Best Songs of 2009" - are quotation marks needed? 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
13. "on the 482nd spot" - I don't think it's needed to mention such position. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
14. "The review aggregate website Acclaimed Music currently has it listed as the 9th best song of 2009 (...)" - "currently" Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
15. Note c "Attributed to multiple references" - just transform it into group of references in one reference with description on top of references templates? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
16. "essence of Gagaism" - what is the Gagaism? Is that possible to introduce it?
17. There should be table with awards and nominations and listings as well. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
18. "British TV show" - just use "television". Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think this distinction is necessary since there are other versions of the show.
19. "During the Enigma shows, Gaga performs it in a gold color latex outfit" - "performs"? It not ended? Same with the next part of the sentence. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
20. "When glee club New Directions member Rachel Berry discovers that rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline are planning to perform a Lady Gaga number at Regionals, the character Will (Matthew Morrison) sets the club a Gaga assignment. The girls and Kurt then create costumes inspired by Gaga and perform "Bad Romance". - sentences in current time? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
21. "and has received many positive criticisms" - not in reference number 156 also archived link of reference number 156 seems to not work. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
22. Add template Track listing. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
23. Reference number 170 is dead also it is auction by some random eBay user (?). It should be replaced with better reference like official shop. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
24. There is no any source for personnel in easy accessible digital versions of release such as Spotify? Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
25. "Weekly charts" table - 2009 and 2010 peaks should be divided same as 2017 is. Eurohunter (talk) 21:24, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure that is necessary since it was released pretty late in 2009, and the song's peak was somewhere between 2009 and 2010. For 2017, it makes sense since it and 2009 are several years apart.

There are previous peer reviews. Wikipedia:Peer review/Bad Romance/archive3, Wikipedia:Peer review/Bad Romance/archive2 and Wikipedia:Peer review/Bad Romance/archive1. I don't know if found issues were fixed. Eurohunter (talk) 20:38, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments, Eurohunter. I will get to them soon, and I’ll review your PR too. FrB.TG (talk) 06:47, 23 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comments from NØ edit

Will add some comments here soon. I would greatly appreciate if you could contribute a review to my current FAC, if possible.--NØ 07:57, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have this page on my watchlist so don’t worry about it. I look forward to your review and will look at your FAC soon. FrB.TG (talk) 07:00, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate it. Adding some comments now!
  • I usually unlink well-known places (Los Angeles, California, Netherlands)
  • "Musically, it is an electropop and dance-pop with a full-throated chorus" - Isn't the word "song" missing here? Also, readers may not know what "full-throated" means, so maybe go with some alternate wording.
Full-throated linked to a Wiktionary entry.
  • "included in the "best-of" lists of the media outlets Rolling Stone and Pitchfork" - best of all time or of the year?
  • The usage of oxford commas should be consistent.
  • The states are mentioned in the infobox and personnel but just the cities in the body.
  • "The song" is repeated almost throughout every sentence of the Background and release section, especially the first paragraph. Variation would be nice.
  • Alt texts for all images are recommended
  • Would it be possible to feature some critical commentary in the audio sample's caption, because that usually helps satisfy the NFC criteria.
  • Musicnotes should be removed before FAC because I've seen them take issue with that source
  • "Sal Cinquemani of Slant Magazine noticed influences from the 1980s music" - This sentence could do without "the"
  • You could just say ""Bad Romance" received widespread critical acclaim" instead of "reviews for "Bad Romance" were highly positive", as it sounds more positive and is sourced!
  • "Mikael Wood of the Los Angeles Times wrote about the lead single's ..." - Is it necessary to refer to it as "the lead single" here because it isn't very relevant to this section
  • "lacked their instant catch" - Does this mean catchiness?
  • Kitty Empire has an article
  • "sold 143,000 paid digital downloads" - "paid" is probably not necessary to mention
  • Probably be helpful to mention which year the halftime show happened.
  • This is a very iconic song so not surprised by the lengthy Impact section! Do make sure everything is sourced to reliable sources.
These are my comments for the peer review. I hope this helps!--NØ 11:17, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, MaranoFan. I have addressed most of these and will get to the rest very soon. As for the sources, I have removed quite a few unreliable ones and will go through them thoroughly before nominating it. FrB.TG (talk) 16:55, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you both for your comments. After a good amount of work on sources and prose, I feel ready to try it at FAC now.
