Archivists! Scholars! Artists! Dramaturgs! Students! Wikipedians! Join us on February 17, 2015 for a Wikipedia edit-a-thon.
Event information edit
New and experienced Wikipedians are invited to come together to create, edit, and expand Wikipedia articles on under- or unsung theatre artists--with a focus on artists who are queer, women, people of color, or otherwise underrepresented--as part of a worldwide Wikiturgy Edit-a-Thon. Participating in this event is a way to support artists whose work you know, admire, and feel should have a more publicly visible space online--or to discover new artists and new histories of performance in the Americas. This event is open to all, but RSVP is required. (See below for RSVP details.)
This is the New York City branch of the worldwide Wikiturgy 2015 event. For why we are doing this, see this article in HowlRound.
Organizers of this event include Rachel Mattson (of the Archives at La MaMa ETC), Nancy Friedland (of Columbia University Libraries), Leanora Lange (of the Center for Jewish History) and Megan Wacha (of CUNY Libraries). Special thanks to the Theatre Library Association and Columbia University Libraries for making this event possible.
