Celebrating Influential Polish and Polish-American Women Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Only 18% of biographies on Wikipedia are about women. Help us change that! Join the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and Wikimedia DC for a Celebrating Influential Polish and Polish-American Women Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. Learn to edit Wikipedia and help to improve or create articles about notable Polish and Polish-American women. Lunch will be provided. Participants will also receive books and other rewards.

The event is a part of the celebration of the centennial of diplomatic relations between Poland and the United States.

Laptops are required. Please bring your own. Wikimedia DC has two laptops to loan. Reserve one by emailing info@wikimediadc.org.

Stephanie Kwolek was a Polish-American chemist who invented what is known today as Kevlar.
Described as the “Mozart of Poetry” and “A Poet of Consciousness” Wisława Szymborska was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996 for, “poetry that with ironic precision allows the historical and biological context to come to light in fragments of human reality." Szymborska wrote some twenty books of poetry and became renowned all throughout the world.
