Initial comment Could you include a basic definition of a rebound (and perhaps offensive vs. defensive, since you mention them) as the similar baseball lists nominated below do?   • I think right where it is works nicely. "The NBA recognizes the rebound leader each year. BTW, here's what a rebound is." Since it's a rate stat, rather than a counting one, could you dig up and add whatever qualifications there are for winning the title? I assume there are some, like if someone had a 14 rebound game in their debut last year they couldn't just sit out the rest of the season and win the rebound title with 14 RPG in one game over Howard's 13 and change. *"The rebounding title was first ..." not sure if you need to repeat "rebounding" here as it's clear what title you're talking about.

  • "layers who earned rebounding titles before the 1973–74 season also did not record any offensive or defensive rebounds because statistics on them were first compiled by the league during that season" I had to read this about three times before I got it. Any chance of a reword such that you say offensive/defensive rebounds weren't explicitly recorded until the 73/74 season? Does this statement mean that the previous winners just had both offensive and defensive rebounds added together?
Try to reword. Does it work?
  • The explanation as to what a rebound is, and what defensive/offensive is, probably needs to go before the section explaining the recording of offensive/defensive rebounds.

  • I'm pretty sure the MOS is ambivalent, but reading "had 1941 in the 1959–60 season" made me look twice, any chance of a 1,941?

  • "Dwight Howard had the highest season" if he's active, isn't it "has the highest"?

Actually no, it's only been 82 since the 1967–68 NBA season. Here's the breakdown
I haven't found an external reference that mentions all these, but it can be easily verified from seasonal standings at NBA.com or basketball-reference. Comments –
  • "Offensive rebound occurs...". Feels like "An" should go before this.
  • "Defensive rebound occurs...". Also feels like a lead-in word is missing from here.
  • Comma after "1950–51 season".
  • "He also holds the rookie records for total rebounds when he had 1,941 in the 1959–60 season." "when he had" → "with". Otherwise, it doesn't work grammatically.
  • "Among active players, Dwight Howard has the highest season rebound total in the 2008–09 season, and Ben Wallace has the highest season rebounding average in the 2002–03 season." This reads like they were only records from those years. To fix this, I recommend moving the season to inside the parentheses, like this: (1,161 in the 2008–09 season).
  • "while Moses Malone and Bill Russell have both won six and five rebounding titles, respectively." Lot of redundancies here. First, we don't need "rebounding titles", since the first part of the sentence makes it clear what the number represents. Also, "both" should be removed; it would only be useful if Malone and Russell had the same number of titles.

  • Do you think the second and third sentences could be merged? For example, "An offensive rebound is ... while a defensive rebound is ..." or something like that
  • The sentence saying beginning "Rodman has also won the most consecutive..." can just be given along with the fact that he's won seven. You've given that he's won seven times twice
  • "Russell in 1957, 1959 and 1964 to 1965 with the Boston Celtics" sounds odd – why not just list them normally?
  • It would be useful to have a note defining "active"
  • Consider centering the table
  • Note [c]: "higher rebound total" → "higher rebound totals", same in notes [f], [g], [h], and more (I'll stop putting them here, please check throughout)
  • Note [e]: "record for total rebound and" → "record for total rebounds"
  • You link Mutombo in [k] and [m] but not in [o]
  • Duncan is linked in both [o] and [q]

It may be more of a baseball thing (where old players aren't officially "retired" but no teams are interested them), but there are some sort of gray areas. What if some young player sits out as a free agent for a year because of injury? What if they're with a team sitting out? I'm not a basketball guy (least favorite of the four major sports in the US), so I don't know how often these situations occur. The baseball project probably got a bit more strict about it after the Barry Bonds situation. Regardless, though, this should not hold up promotion.
