Please read before requesting informal mediation
This is for requesting informal mediation regarding content disputes. This is not a place to report editor behavior or other conduct related issues, please see the above dispute resolution desk for appropriate venues for conduct-related disputes.

Prerequisites for informal mediation

MedCab is an intermediary step between informal dispute resolution processes such as Third Opinion, Dispute Resolution Noticeboard, and Wikiquette Assistance and the more formal processes of Formal Mediation and Arbitration. While not a hard and fast rule, we recommend at least some attempted prior use of something like a Third Opinion, the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard, or Wikiquette Assistance. We may also accept a discussion at some other noticeboard or project to be sufficient prerequisite. Mere discussion on the article talk page or user pages will not ordinarily suffice without a prior attempt at dispute resolution, though this can be ignored when it's needed or the talk page discussion has been sufficiently complex without the need for outside help. Mediators and prospective mediators may review and consider the arguments and conduct of the parties during the prior dispute resolution attempts.
