Intelligent design edits

edit

Dear Zyx1xyz,

I wanted to stop by and help you in your efforts to contribute to Wikipedia, especially after the interactions on the Intelligent design article yesterday. It is absolutely great that you were bold and made your initial edit without discussion; you don't need to discuss anything before editing an article. This strategy works fantastically well for small, less-viewed articles, but can quickly digress into an edit war if WP:BRD is not followed on contentious articles (BRD means to be Bold, and if you are Reverted, Discuss the proposed change(s) on the Talk page). On heavily watched and traveled pages, such as the intelligent design article, bold edits will often be reverted for some reason or another and it's Wikipedia policy to build articles by consensus. WP:BRD is not a policy, but a general guideline that helps avoid violating other policies, such as WP:CONSENSUS and WP:EDITWAR.

I think now that emotions have abated, we can have a constructive conversation on the Talk:Intelligent design page regarding the edits you've proposed. Please be patient and remember that consensus-building takes time, and I hope the recent activity doesn't deter you from contributing further to Wikipedia. -- MisterDub (talk | contribs) 16:48, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
