I found the link "US Fansite" is connected to the link "DJmax japan".

but i cannot sure that is only for me, in korea or in korean environment, or for everyone.

please check it. thanks.

That "US Fansite" was linked to bemanistyle's DJMax community. The webmaster has since discontinued maintaining the site, thus the page jump. --Sqrfrk 22:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Explanation needed

edit

This article does not explain what console or machine it runs on. Arcade? PS2? What?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.233.224.60 (talk) 04:55, 7 March 2007

Just for your benefit, the original DJMax game runs on your PC - it's an MMO rhythm game. Both of the portable versions run off the PSP. --Sqrfrk 22:13, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
From the same guy above - well, why is that not explained in the article? After reading it, i thought it was an online game that was in the arcade. MMO rhythm game doesn't just mean PC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.233.224.60 (talk) 12:21, 9 March 2007
Well, I didn't write the article - I merely posted to give an explanation. Considering that having an MMO connotation usually implies a PC, and that there's also an absolute dearth of online arcade games around, I thought the "MMO rhythm" tag was fairly obvious. --Sqrfrk 03:31, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Let me just remind you guys that PC is not a single platform but a collection of various software and hardware platforms. DJMax Technika games run on a various arcade boxes which are built on top of Intel architecture and Windows Embed edition. DJMax Portable games run on a Sony PSP. DJMax Trilogy runs on any home computer based off Intel hardware and Windows NT operating system which means XP, Vista, Seven, etc. you get the idea. --Mikitei (talk) 19:03, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

METRO Project

edit

Include it, someone. Now. I don't have enough information, but it definitely needs to be in this article. New DJMAX = win. Also, I think the new US version falls under this vein as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.84.88.221 (talk) 22:27, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

For as awesome and seemingly popular as these games are, this article needs info on Clazziquai and Black Box. S4 League having a song in Clazziquai, and how the arcade machines are coming to the U.S. Actually it just needs a good cleanup in general. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.119.237.219 (talk) 00:23, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

DJ Max Mobile

edit

We need info on DJ Max Mobile, it's for cell phones and only in Korea.

All I know is that

  • If playing on a normal cell phone, it plays like the DJ Max Portable games
  • If playing on a touch screen cell phone, it plays like Technika, only without multi-touch
  • A song list of all DJ Max portable games and Technika
  • Downgraded sound and no M/V, just a still of the song that displays while the song is loading appears in the background.

I am writing it now. --Mikitei (talk) 18:59, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
It's not done yet because I've had lots of other stuff but I will add it later on, or maybe in small pieces little by little. --Mikitei (talk) 17:53, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
DJMax Mobile article is there now. I hope you can improve it. Promise I made is now fulfilled. --Mikitei (talk) 16:18, 24 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Massive Edits

edit

I will be doing a lot of edits to the DJ Max series. that includes removing unnecessary detail explanations, putting gameplay sections in a better prose, removing the wiki table for the track lists and just put in the track listing template in. This also includes removing genre section. it's not necessary and makes the articles more in-universe.Bread Ninja (talk) 09:56, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am practically rewriting this whole article

edit

I am making adjustments to this article and I wish others would help me since I know nothing of DJMax Technica for example except those few Youtube videos I've watched about it. I expanded and redefined the horrible language in this article. I hope it makes more sense now. --Mikitei (talk) 18:50, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request to rename "DJ Max" into "DJMax"

DJ MaxDJMax — Name of this series is officially written as DJMax without the space between DJ and Max [1] [2]. More than half of the Youtube uploads are written without the space in the name [3] [4]. Considerable amount of the Google provided search results are written without space in between. So let's change it to "DJMax" instead it being "DJ Max". Mikitei (talk) 20:15, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

    • I support this too but we would have to change the other articles too. Another thing i see with this article is having gameplay information of the other games, when it could be added in their respected articles.Bread Ninja (talk) 20:02, 20 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

ON another note, youtube is not a viable source.Bread Ninja (talk) 07:37, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Strong consensus? There hasn't been much overall discussion, and so I don't think that is really the case, although that's not a serious issue here. I would have joined in earlier, but I've been travelling quite alot recently. I don't think that naming trends on Youtube represents anything solid or reliable - Youtube in itself is something user-defined, created and controlled. I tend to find that Korean websites tend to use the name "DJMax", Chinese websites use "DJMAX" and quite a few English websites use "DJ Max". As for that I'm not quite sure as to what we can confirm to be "standard usage". -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 13:48, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I only agreed to the main article, but i'm still skeptical on the rest of the articles.Bread Ninja (talk) 19:02, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Images

edit

I think that the article needs few images to better explain how the gameplay works between Portable and Technika. --193.166.71.26 (talk) 07:58, 10 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

possibly, but this article is only explaining game modes. it seems like it could be trimmed, or better explained in it's respected games with only a brief summary on here.Bread Ninja (talk) 17:25, 10 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think it's better if general gameplay is explained here like it is and if there are changes to it... those changes are then explained in a respected game articles. There's no sense to repeat same information over and over. That's why there are top level articles like this one which job is to explain what's going on in whole series. --Mikitei (talk) 18:58, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
i think only for the main series. other stuff like technika and portable are best suited in their own articles. Even if they have similar gameplay. And repeating the same information is acceptable depending on where you get your sources.Bread Ninja (talk) 13:34, 14 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think I could contribute a picture from one of the Portable games but I don't know about Technika. --Mikitei (talk) 18:58, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

DJMAX Trademark

edit

I started to wonder how DJMAX is really written. After looking a little while I think I found suitable source for it. DJMAX is according to the USA Trademark and Patent Office written with all capital letters and together as DJMAX. See here there entries in the USA Trademark Office database...

  • DJMAX - [5]
  • DJMAX FEVER - [6]
  • DJMAX TECHNIKA - [7] - Apparently this is for TECHNIKA arcade titles since the trademark covers "Coin-operated video games" among others.
  • DJMAX TECHNIKA - [8] - Apparently this is for TECHNIKA TUNE since it's a TECHNIKA trademark for "Computer game software and programs for hand-held video game machine". It also covers variety of other things.

Checking the owner field shows that Pentavision owns at least four DJMAX trademarks in the Unites States. I also checked the "DJ Max", there is only single entry for somebody who is a DJ who uses trademark called DJ Max Glazer (which was filled in 2005). It probably is the reason why Pentavision probably could not have a trademark for "DJ Max" which has a space in between the word (around 2009 when Pentavision published Fever and Technika at United States). "DJ Max Glazer"'s entry is here. Apparently "DJ Max" however is abandoned trademark.

I've also looked into Korean Trademark Office and their website revealed something interesting to me. Apparently Pentavision did submit application for both "DJ MAX" and "DJMAX". Korean Trademark office however rejected "DJ MAX" because it was already a registered trademark used by some (record) label called "DJ MAX MIX". But they did accept "DJMAX" and thus Pentavision owns the "DJMAX" also in Korea. Korean trademark for "DJMAX FEVER" was for some reason rejected however. I don't understand Korean language enough to know exactly why "DJMAX FEVER" trademark was rejected in Korea, even if I do understand some things.

In any case this shows that Pentavision has never officially released a game which would have had the name "DJ Max". They would otherwise infringement a trademark which doesn't belong to them. This is true both in United States and in Korea. However since the DJ Max Fever which wasn't a Pentavision title but that USA licensee's, PM Studios, title... If you owned the "DJ Max" trademark in USA, you could at least in theory sue, as the owner of the "DJ Max", PM Studios for the trademark violation.

Here are the Korean registrations entries...

  • 디제이맥스 / DJMAX - [9]
  • 디제이맥스 테크니카 / DJMAX TECHNIKA - [10]
  • 디제이맥스 피버 / DJMAX FEVER - [11]

If these links fail to work, just use the search engine of the Korean Trademark Office. I added link to their English search engine for trademarks registered in Korea.

Now we know the names which Pentavision owns and how those names are typed. If you want to rename all the DJMAX articles according to with all capital letters I won't oppose. With DJ Max Fever being an exception to that. Considering Wikipedia article of DJ Max Fever, I think the space however is important in Fever's article title (and otherwise) because it was released under such a title. Even if the trademark they had right to use says otherwise.

I also think that it is common sense to not follow these trademarks to the letter. I believe Wikipedia had an helpful article about that too somewhere. I remember reading it several years ago. I can understand if that all the DJMAX articles start with the capitalised "DJMAX". But additional title names such as "Technika" should be written without the full capitalisation. Even if the trademark shows it should be fully capitalised.

I don't have much time to give to Wikipedia since I'm trying to finish my studies, keep working, and write master's thesis among other things. I am leaving this for you people to consider.

Have a nice summer! --Mikitei (talk) 16:54, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Oh and one more note. Now that I own all the consumer titles in the series I can confirm that the only DJMAX title in the series which clearly refers to itself mostly as "DJMax" is the DJMax Trilogy. And the only title which uses "DJ MAX" is the DJ Max Fever. The Rest of the series are all "DJMAX". Additionally DJMax Trilogy box (but only the box) says in Korean that the title name is "DJMAX" but the English title in same box cover reads "DJ MAX". However the DJMax Trilogy manual uses consistently only "DJMax" formatting and the in-game the game uses also "DJMax" with exception for one sprite graphic which reads "DJ Max" (when in loading screen if I remember correctly). However in DJMax Trilogy the main menu head title is written as "DJMAX". So in reality Trilogy is not consistent on how it uses word "DJMAX". --Mikitei (talk) 17:09, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
there are multiple games thathave been trademarked with all caps, especially in foreign countries that dont use our alphabet. For example there are manga/anime series in japan trademarked as BLEACH, NARUTO, ONE PIECE. However, please revise the rules and manual of styles. We tend to avoid all caps as much as possible due to WP:TRADEMARK. Also, it's not about using the official name, but the most common name per WP:COMMONNAME.Lucia Black (talk) 17:16, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
However there are also multiple games that have been trademarked without capitalising everything. Even in foreign countries where roman/latin alphabets aren't commonly used. For example "Death Rally" trademark isn't written with all caps. There are Korean manhwa which is trademarked as such. This isn't 1:1 at all. However the situation works also the other way. "Call of Duty" trademark in USA for example has been capitalised as "CALL OF DUTY". And I understand what you wrote about style since I've read those documentations some years ago. --Mikitei (talk) 17:42, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Regardless, this is exactly why i put "romanized as DJMAX" instead of "stylized as DJMAX" because stylized would mean it's not a trademark name.Lucia Black (talk) 17:21, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
However it isn't commonly or officially romanised as such. It is romanised as variety of different styles and ways depending on who you ask it from. Europeans and Asians tend to use DJMAX, DJMax, Djmax, djmax, etc. And Americans add that "DJ Max" to the soup. Shall I add a mention that it's also trademarked as such? --Mikitei (talk) 17:42, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the confusion. Let me correct myself and add following sentence to that statement: If there's a way it is officially romajised, it most probably is "DJMAX". --Mikitei (talk) 17:46, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
For now, we use whats commonly known. the rest we could mention additionally and also mention which one is the official romanization (not Romaji).Lucia Black (talk) 21:18, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
For now, i dont think its even that relevant to even mention that its romanized/trademark as DJMAX. Another subject, much more closer to this situation is Final Fantasy, in which is trademarked in all caps. and Kingdom Hearts is also trademarked in all caps. alot of series are trademarked in all caps. its not that relevant.Lucia Black (talk) 21:30, 7 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Relation between DJmax running on PC. PSP and mobile

edit

DJmax running on the PC(DJMax Trilogy) was based on the games on PSP, like the songs with identical backgrounds. After the publishing of DJmax, the following music games like Tap sonic running on mobile also using several same songs from DJmax. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Zyhjerry/sandbox — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zyhjerry (talkcontribs) 15:34, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
