Hello, Zeus Aurelius, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Brianda and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

Virgin soil epidemic - a medical article

edit

Hi @Zeus Aurelius, This seems like a very interesting topic to choose as an article. I don't know if you've checked out the talk page yet, but it is considered a medical article. Since this is a human health-related topic, I wanted to let you know that topics related to human health have more stringent sourcing requirements than most articles on Wikipedia. Please be sure to complete the Editing health and psychology topics training module. You can also check out the sourcing guidelines for these articles. Looping in SierraTL. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:00, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you @Brianda (Wiki Ed), I'll pass along this info and suggested training to the other students as well if they're considering human health related topics. SierraTL (talk) 22:08, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi @SierraTL, Thanks for the quick reply! Appreciate it. So you know, we typically advise students to not work on medical related topics just because it is more challenging to satisfy the sourcing requirements as first time editors. I noticed so far only @Zeus Aurelius has elected a medical topic, and I can see they're putting in the work and completing the training modules. (really good sign) My general recommendation is for students to choose other topics to improve on, and avoid medical topics. It really makes for a more positive experience with this project as first time editors. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 22:35, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Brianda (Wiki Ed) Thanks for flagging! I've got a biomedical background and published in the past, so I feel fairly comfortable with the stringencies around sourcing and accuracy. 135.180.50.45 (talk) 22:56, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Moved draft on NAS back to user space

edit

Hi @Zeus Aurelius, I moved your draft for Native American Studies back to your user account. You can find it at User:Zeus Aurelius/NAS. Remember to edit the existing article, not create a new one. Good work editing so far! Let me know if you have any questions. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:17, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, that was a technical mistake. Fixed now! Zeus Aurelius (talk) 19:56, 25 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'll add that it reads like an essay not an encyclopedia article. I hope that helps. Toddst1 (talk) 21:24, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Great review

edit

I saw your review of Sexual victimization of Native American women at User:Efcordova/Sexual_victimization_of_Native_American_women/Zeus_Aurelius_Peer_Review after I dealt with some new issues in the article. Your review was spot on, especially about the evaluative perspective and NPOV.

I'd add that most of the first section was plagiarized or ridiculously too-closely paraphrased from its sources. I didn't go through the rest of the article.

Keep up the great work. Toddst1 (talk) 21:20, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
