Magazines

edit

I see you've been putting in information about Maxim and their listing of women. I just wanted to point out that titles of magazines should be in italics. Could you please keep this in mind with your future edits and also fix the ones you've already put in? Thanks, Dismas|(talk) 20:09, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Regarding edits made during August 2 2006 (UTC)

edit

Please stop adding commercial links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. — getcrunk what?! 18:09, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I reverted Getcrunk's reversion of one of your edits (the one that I saw). It doesn't look like spam linking to me. But:

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -- JHunterJ 18:18, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looks like spam to me, it is being posted prominently in the articles i.e. in the intro paragraph rather than in the external liknks section and I very much doubt it meets WP:EL. --pgk(talk) 21:40, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

STOP

edit

Please stop putting this info about how they're on Maxim. It's unnecessary. Lil Flip246 21:45, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

I'm just a little bit confused about what I should be doing. I've read the rules, but I'm still unclear as to what constitutes spam. From now on, I'll do the Edit Summary thing and put as much info as the 200 characters allow. Should I create a Trivia category for this sort of information? Yrymar 22:01, 2 August 2006 (UTC)yrymarReply

See what wikipedia is not, wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. The links you are adding as I mention above were being very prominantly positioned, their appearance as one of very many in a "lads" mag is not that significant. See also for guidelines on external links, the appearance in such a magazine is debatable as to if it includes any encyclopaedic information, however I very much doubt they meet the requirement for external links. If this information needs to be presented anywhere it only needs be brief, within the correct context and only need to use an internal link to the magazine in question. e.g. Has appeared in Maxim --pgk(talk) 22:38, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Copyvio

edit

Your changes to Stuff (magazine) were reverted. Copyrighted images require a detailed fair-use rationale. Additionally, we may not use a scanned cover just as part of a gallery, it must be used to illustrate the publication of the issue of the magazine in question. --Yamla 19:51, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Fsu-girls-gm med.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 19:57, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
