Hey, I think you're a decent guy and that, but I think you made the wrong decision on it. If you look how I've explained it, and the person underneath you're one, you'll see why it should stay, and I haven't been able to describe it the way I think it (it ain't easy), which is in the nature of it has to stay! Please change your mind, because a lot of good history and a good article will be badly and wrongly and unfarily lost! Please think carefully, it'd be a waste, and an article that should be there might go because of the foolish thing recently. Come on man, you seem clever aswell, which means that hopefully, at least, the sense you have should prevail. Just so you know - people in Australia are more likely to know the ?charming? ?cute? little girl who was the tragic victim of not one, but two life-threatening car crashes - the first into a childcare centre, the second at a road crossing while under the care of a nurse or something - than her dad. Fact is, we're fairly unlikely to remember who was 2006 father of the year, which was awarded I think in January, by March or so. Undeletion request?

Hi. Sorry, wasn't sure of a better way to drop you a note and I didn't want to modify the "archived" talk page. I'd like to see my article undeleted because I was actually working on a couple others and was going to title them "ambulance companies in the Silicon Valley." While each individual company might not be a "company of noteable relevance," most of them are still family owned companies which can often be underrepresented in the Silicon Valley. Thanks!

Hello

I don't think we have that much in common: I'm a vi guy. :) Let's see: I was a diehard Debian user for about 5-6 years, but I made the jump to Ubuntu last summer. I threw Etch on a spare machine yesterday though (Thats my gnome screenshot at Debian). I think I'll be routing for the Ottawa Senators in the playoffs this year, but I doubt they'll go deep. My thanks for your help with this one as well. The CfD discussion is now looking nice and harmonious as a result of our discussions. I'm having fun categorizing musicians in other trees that aren't fully formed, so I'll know who to ask if I can't think of the apt genre description for someone. (There were a couple in Category:American harpists that I gave up on, plus I still have two in Category:Welsh musicians that need some research to work out how exactly they qualify as musicians! Jewish/Celt

Hi Xtifr, I'd appreciate if you could have a look at my reply to you and rethink your stance. Celts IMO do have states, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Brittany which all have their respective occupation categories. I consider Jews before the creation of Israel to be a stateless people- as the Kurds still are today and they do have their own categories at Category:Kurdish people. You showcase yourself to be ignorant

in terms of musical history by your insistence that the Peel Sessions artist classification is not important. It is important, and the category needed to stay, and I am very angry that you took it upon yourself to foist your lack of knowledge about the topic at hand via your vote to delete the category. The category was necessary and valid and needed to stay on Wikipedia for the site to be full in scope. Peel Sessions artists were by and large artists who were marked by a sense of innovation and musical experimentation, and the fact that you discounted that in favor of your chosen ignorance of the subject matter means that your vote, as well as the vote of the other individuals who chose to vote for deletion, was and is tainted. Category:Christian illuminated manuscripts

You supported this name at this CfR. I was just curious if you could take a look at the current state of Category:Illuminated manuscripts in consideration of the newly named cat and the subcats, and see if any re-arranging is due (because there are 4 subcats of Illuminated manuscripts that could be considered "Christian illuminated manuscripts"). Also note that Category:Illuminated biblical manuscripts contains at least three articles for non-Christian manuscripts (but these articles are also included in Category:Jewish illuminated manuscripts). Anyway, the situation is rather confusing as it was, and now the recent name change only makes matters worse, so I was hoping you could shed some clarity on the situation. Help! How to modify to make it a list?

You'd posted a helpful suggestion to convert a category to a list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_May_20#Category:Films_containing_graphic_female_rape), but not elaborated exactly how to do this. I'm fairly new, and maybe its just a newbie error, but could you point me in the right direction?

Discussion on eliminating Category:(Nationality) (instrument) by genre from the categorization guidelines

In case you're interested but miss the notices I have posted on various WikiProject pages, I have started a discussion here about whether we need the category level of Category:American pianists by genre, etc, and I would appreciate views being expressed (at that location, of course). Funk categories

Hi. I think you may have created categories that are too specialized with your "funk" categories (Category:American funk drummers, Category:American funk singers). Look at the bands Muruga Booker, Jerome Brailey, and Dennis Chambers have played with. Describing them as "funk drummers" is inappropriate. They are drummers, and they were P-Funk members, but their careers have included many more genres than funk. Likewise, Jessica Cleaves sang with the Friends of Distinction; describing her as a funk singer is inappropriate.

I think these people, and some others you have moved to the specialized "funk" categories, should be moved to the broader "American" categories without genre (Category:American drummers, Category:American singers). Let's discuss. Thanks! — Malik Shabazz (Talk | contribs) 20:42, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I didn't realize that musicians could be included in several categories (funk drummers and jazz drummers). In that case, I'll add categories — including the funk categories — to bios where appropriate. I put it all back. When I was handling the new Category:Greek heavy metal keyboardists, I didn't think anyone would miss that layer, but I was clearly wrong. Many apologies. I love how everyone totally understands me

"nom's claim that "every serious source uses 'ninja' as plural" was fully rebutted at CfD by reference to the Oxford and Webster's dictionaries, both of which list both forms as valid pluralizations."

1. I meant "serious source". Do you think dictionary is a serious source of knowledge on anything? I want to know how the AK-47 works, so I look to a dictionary? "Serious source" is for example a dedicated book, or a (serious) magazine article.

2. "both of which list both forms as valid pluralizations" - so WHY delete the CORRECT form "ninja"? Something I just asked to revert, to soemthing you just said was "valid". Look, it's Ninja in fiction , NOT Ninjas in fiction. It's Category:Historical ninja NOT Category:Historical ninjas.

"Wikipedia should probably work with the form used by the primary source of information on this topic."

That's it! NOT stupid or badly-translated movies like them did! Again, WHY this one need to stand out from the related categories? Jazz musicians of New Orleans

Not to come off wrong here, but you can't be serious in stating that such a category qualifies as a trivial intersection. New Orleans' jazz permeates the entire culture of the area, and indeed it literally is the birthplace of jazz and continues to be one of the most important areas in the world concerning jazz music. This is not a category exclusively for those who were there in the early days. No, far from it. This is a category that seeks to demonstrate how large of an impact the area has had, and continues to have, on the evolution of jazz music. It would certainly seem to me this is one of those scenarios where such a category is anything but redundant. (Mind meal 03:07, 15 June 2007 (UTC))

Parsing of my comments

It seems that a few editors have been parsing though my comments on some recent AFDs. As there were 4 simultaneous AFDs, there was a great deal of cutting and pasting between them. Also, Calton has a habit of copying a phrase or sentence out of a larger context and replying to it bit by bit. At any rate, I'm not upset with you, and I take no issue with your comment, but did want to try to clear up that I did not say that pageant contestants were athletes (despite some editors inference to the contrary). My argument and explanation/clarification can best be seen here. I'm not going to blast this everywhere, as it seems that the matter is pretty much decided and I really don't want to open myself up to further dissection by certain other editors, but I did at least want to try to make a clarification to you. Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers

Hey there. Per your comments on the deletion review, i just wanted to privately state to you that it was after all just a stub. The article was referenced, it stated who led the band and that Chick Corea was a member. I was in the process of adding many stubs at that time, and felt that would be enough for the moment to assert notability. It was, in my own reasoning, like me stating that The Doors was a band that was led by Jim Morrison, and included such and such members. Jazz genre categorization

• Since you have been the most knowledgable person I've met to date on categorization, I have a problem I've encountered that I'd like your assistance with if you have the time and inclination. Please see Deep Blue Organ Trio article which I started today, of which I cannot find a way to have Category:Jazz ensembles by genre become a default on the Category:Jazz ensembles page. Right now it is a mess, with Category:Ensembles by genre and Category:Jazz ensembles by genre showing up in the alphabetized list. Optimally I would like to create one by nationality, as well. I have not been able to find the relevant information on how to do this if there is not some sort of sort key already established before me. I hope all this makes sense, as I'm not even sure if I am using sort key correctly in reference to this. At any rate, if you could help I will be in your debt. (Mind meal 17:21, 27 June 2007 (UTC))
