Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that in this edit to Ross Honeywill, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 05:05, 15 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ross Honeywill

edit

I now understand. You can revert my undo on the wp:page history. Please add an wp:edit summary explaining the reasoning behind your edits. Adding a lengthy comment to the talk page: talk:Ross Honeywill with a brief ES + "see talk page" may be helpful. BTW: Remove the "Dr." per wp:credential. After the first use of the full name, just use the surname (Honeywill): wp:surname. Sorry about that! Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:16, 15 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I removed a couple more "Dr."s here. It shouldn't be added to the first use of the name either! I would recommend adding "rm "Dr." per wp:credential" to the edit summary when doing so. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 07:27, 15 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Conflict-of-interest editing and sockpuppetry

edit

Hi Xavierpaul49. I noticed your note at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Cesare Barbone, and I thought I might explain a few Wikipedia processes.

"Sockpuppetry", or the use of multiple accounts by the same person for certain purposes, is not allowed on Wikipedia. "Meatpuppetry", or the direction by the same person of edits by multiple people with multiple Wikipedia accounts, is considered under policy to be equivalent and is also prohibited; accounts that engage in sockpuppetry will be blocked. In addition, you mention that you work with Ross Honeywill. Wikipedia policy considers you to have a conflict of interest and you must follow the procedure at WP:DISCLOSE (disclosing conflicts of interests). If you work for or are paid by Ross Honeywill, you must also follow WP:COIPAYDISCLOSURE.

If you would like to continue editing Wikipedia: If you and the previous accounts (Cesare Barbone and Paul Purcell) are connected, you will need to acknowledge that as a prerequisite to being unblocked. I don't have control over the unblock process, but Wikipedia generally requires that you acknowledge relevant policies (sockpuppetry, conflict of interest, and neutral point of view are the big relevant ones; you should read these carefully before any unblock request) as well as commit to a single account before any unblock. WP:AAB describes the block appeal process in more detail.

Thanks Kevin. I think this is all too hard. Dr Honeywill is a colleague of stature, but I think we should just delete the article Ross Honeywill. Interested parties will just have to find information on his work & books elsewhere. Given that I appear to be blocked, can you delete the article please? Xavierpaul49 (talk)
