Hello, Woojin Jeong and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

Good job. Please try to add references to edits like [1]. Adding references will make good edits for the next week. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:31, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

re: Selected the topic!

edit

Many topics about Korean culture are good, but remember you will need to find the topic discussed in reliable quality sources, such as newspapers, as well as academic journals and books. Did you find such topics about "빨리빨리 문화"? Our article cannot be based on your own experiences, but it has to summarize existing state of knowledge, verifiable by reliable sources.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:17, 19 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Non-English references

edit

You can use Korean or other languages sources as references, but make sure the citation is formatted (in other words, that it is clear who is the author, publisher, what is the title, date, etc.). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:40, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Cultural identity of korean

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Cultural identity of korean requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. I have moved your draft to User:Woojin Jeong/Cultural identity of korean. Please watch the vidoes I posted about sandbox and why you should start new articles there first. Your draft is an early start and I cannot comment more on it until I see your other references. As I said earlier, it might be a good topic, but you need to show reliable references discussing this concept as soon as possible. You should also try to find academic sources in addition to your current newspaper-level sources. It's a good start, but it neeeds much improvement. Please let me know when your outline is longer and has more sources and I'll review it. Please try to do so quickly, within two weeks or so. Good luck, --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:19, 4 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Toronto Islands, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:18, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Yeoncheon County, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop edit warring over unsourced content. Magnolia677 (talk) 14:17, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please be more careful with your weekly edits; remember the requirement that they are constructive. Please consider the comments above, and watch our videos where I discuss how to make various types of edits. Please make sure that the information you add is referenced, and that it is grammatically sound and does not duplicate information already present in the article. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:07, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Here is a specific review of [2]: 1) the first sentence you add is unreferenced 2) the second has a reference but the reference is not properly formatted. I'd encourage you to first translate the Korean wikipedia article about [3], then link him. As you can see, all other people listed in that section already have articles about them. Also, creating a new article is worth extra credit points. I do recommend, however, that you create any draft of a new article on your sandbox first, and ask me to review it, before publishing it in the mainspace. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:12, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

About your article

edit

I'd recommend finishing your current article and then starting a new one, based on a translation from Korean Wikipedia. Is there an article you want to translate for History of candlelight rally in South Korea? There is already a large article about the 2016–2017 South Korean protests.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:22, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ah, that ("the history of the candlelight rally (from the first rally in Korea to the latest rally") is an interesting topic. Do you have some good sources for this? If so, go ahead and create an outline and I'll be happy to review it. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:19, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Feedback on your project for Collective Intelligence class

edit

User:Woojin Jeong/sandbox looks pretty good, and I think you are getting close to finishing it, good job. My recommendations: 1) please expand the lead so it is at least a paragraph long, see WP:LEAD 2) please add a translated title to each reference (don't replace the Korean title, just add English translation), also make sure each reference lists the author, publisher and date. For example, [4] should list 김영우 and 2018-06-22. Good job doing your weekly 10 edits! I am sure your grade will be very good! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:21, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Very nice job. I think we are almost finished. There are two things to do now: 1) Copy your content to History of candlelight rallies in South Korea 2) merge content from Candlelight_vigil#South_Korea's_candlelight_vigils (which I belatedly found) to your article (copy, paste and integrate). Make sure to reuse all content, unless it is clearly redundant. Then I will remove it from the other article, which should be about a more generic, worldwide concept. 3) Lastly, you can nominate your article for T:TDYK if you'd like to try this process (see my related video). Good job! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:38, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Very well done, I encourage you to nominate your work to T:TDYK for extra credit. Otherwise you are done, congratulations! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:39, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Now you need to create a hook for Template:Did you know nominations/History of candlelight rallies in South Korea. Please see WP:DYKHOOK. (It also needed to be transcluded to WP:DYKN, but I took care of that for you.) MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 23:28, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
I was going to say just what Mandarax said: your nomination process is incomplete. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:32, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
