Talk about the WDHV logos

Since we can't discuss them on the talk pages for the articles, I thought, maybe bring them up here.

I need to tell you that the FBI warnings have been on videos since 1978. Yes, I am well aware of the blue screen with the arial font (it's on the Cartoon Classics tapes), but the early warnings were on blue background with Times New Roman font. The blue FBI screen sometimes has a dark red background.

I am well aware of a variation of the 1986 WDHV logo with a "presents" below. I saw this on a Schoolhouse Rock tape. I uploaded a version with no volume on youtube.com. Have you seen this on any cassettes? Because I am going to a thrift store soon.

Also, I went to this website that showed two screens. First, the orange FBI screen saying, "Duplication in whole or in part of this videocassette is prohibited," and also the same words on the green FBI screen. Have you seen these on a cassette before? I assume it's on version two of the Robin Hood print, since the green FBI screens were introduced on that one.

The 1981 video release of Dumbo (since I own it) has something odd on it. First, there is a red FBI screen from the early 1980s (a switchover from the blue one) and a blue warning screen after it. The early videos (1980-1983) have the MPAA rating on a blue screen after the "Neon Mickey" logo.

On the first Cartoon Classics series, there was a cut-off version of the Neon Mickey logo with the slogan, "The magic lives on." During my visit to a thrift or collectibles store someday, these cassettes are on my mind-

• Robin Hood 1991 with green FBI screens
• Volume 1 of the Sing-Along Songs (December 1986, a rarity)
• Any tape from the original Cartoon Classics series (1983-1986)
• The Black Hole 1980 VHS (first ever by WDHV)
• A Dream Called Walt Disney World 1981 (I can't resist, I heard it's extremely obsolete)
• 1991 reprints of 1980s Black Diamond editions (the only one I have is Dumbo with the ink on the cassette tape).
• Black Padded Clamshells of Dumbo, Robin Hood, and Sword in the Stone (I only have Pinocchio)

About the 1989 releases of Dumbo and Sword

I am telling you! The 1989 Dumbo/Sword cover thing is ALL TRUE!!! I have the 1989 version, since it has the newer cover artwork and the mid-80s tape master (the 1984 Classics logo fades out right as the music ends on this version), as well as a newer label for it (it's a white label with a newer "DUMBO" logo on it and a new font for "Walt Disney's" over it; the CLASSICS print logo and FBI legal stuff is still the same.

The 1991 version uses the 1989 cover artwork, and a newer tape master and label with white ink and uses the 1988 Classics logo.

But I don't get it why it says the running time is 63 minutes. It might have said that because they cut the RKO logo. If you include the FBI warnings and Classics logo, then the running time is 64 minutes, like the movie's supposed to be. --Wile e2005 15:48, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Good news, Wile

I got the 1985 Pinocchio VHS in the white clamshell and the 1986 tape re-master. Now it will go great with the 1985 black clamshell which I have had since last fall. Imax80 20:30, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

• Rental stores are always an excellent source for getting old Disney videos. My state gets a store called "Tommy K's Video" and the one in my town has a ton of old videos. This is where I got my 1984 "Robin Hood" print and my 1986 "The Sword in the Stone" print. They also used to have the pink cover of Dumbo. They had several videos from the early 1980s as well.

Also, I heard tell that the 1986 tape re-master of "Pinocchio" holds the dark red FBI screens and the video dealer announcement, which also appears on my 1986 "Sleeping Beauty" print. I currently have all seven of the videos that use the 1984 Classics logo. If you need to know what's on them, there's the usual, red FBI screens, and then the cheesy logo. They are banning all my favorite videos, and coming up with excuses like "copyright infringement." What is that all about? Almost every TV show I upload is removed, or logo or anything else whatsoever. • I think it was an urgent repackaging. Since Dumbo was originally in the WDHV in the 1980s, when they were mastering it in 1983-84 with the Neon Mickey, they were intending it to be a WDHV re-release, but as they staretd the Classics, I guess they were too lazy to change and put the Classics label on the tape and sold it that way, and not cutting out the "Walt Disney and Promo" which is at the end of it like the old one. --Imax80 19:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Rare variation of "Sword in the Stone"

Hey, there was a version of "The Sword in the Stone" in 1988 where the heading read, "WALT DISNEY'S" along with the black words "VHS" was removed from the bottom. They did the same thing to the covers of "Dumbo" and "Alice in Wonderland", so you were right, those three titles had re-prints in 1988, but all the tape masters were packaged in the 1989 cases.

You have the 1988 tape variation of "Dumbo" and "Alice in Wonderland" since they don't have the black line in the middle of the label. "The Sword in the Stone" was the same way, but with "WALT DISNEY'S" as the heading. Ever see this version? --Imax80 20:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, Imax80, those 1988 copies of Dumbo & The Sword in the Stone are really from February 5, 1988 'cause 1. That was the 1st 1988 release date. 2. There were 1988 VHS, such as Walt Disney Mini Classics: The Wind in the Willows, Walt Disney Cartoon Classics: Special Edition & the 1988 print of Disney Sing Along Songs: You Can Fly! were released on that day. Same thing with your Lady & the Tramp VHS. That copy of Alice in Wonderland that has the 1984 FBI warnings slideshow, instead of fading, is from October 13, 1987 'cause I have a VHS Walt Disney Cartoon Classics: vol.9: Starring Chip 'n' Dale released on the same day & has that thing too. I say it's September 20, 1991 'cause Jungle Book was one of trailers on Robin Hood, but was already out on VHS. Rescuers Down Under was another preview offered on Robin Hood and was coming soon. So, when Rescuers Down Under came out, Robin Hood was still in progression of editing and they decided to cut the previews out of there, replace the FBI warnings with new green one's because they had to and replace the cut-short 1989 WDC logo with the older 1988 logo, because it was the only one available at the moment.
