August 2014 edit

Your recent editing history at Mr. Peabody & Sherman shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. —C.Fred (talk) 19:48, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for edit warring, as you did at Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Drmies (talk) 22:51, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I acknowledge that I was wrong to engage in edit warring, but it was my first day on Wikipedia and I was unaware of the guidelines and rules. I looked at the "historical inaccuracies" sections of other pages, and found that many others also pointed out historical inaccuracies without using sources that explicitly discussed these. Nevertheless, I would like to apologize for making this mistake and promise to never engage in edit warring again. Wikipuser777 (talk) 12:15 am, Today (UTC+1)

Accept reason:

As long as you're now aware of the rules regarding edit warring and are willing to abide by them, I see no reason to leave your account blocked. Pinging Drmies to let him know, though I doubt he'd disagree. You might want to have a read of WP:BRD, which contains some generally accepted practices for avoiding edit wars. Roswell Weston edit

Please check out WP:NPOL (Item 1). Kraxler (talk) 18:12, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

And please do not edit war again, you have been blocked before for it, as I see right here. The removal of the tag is uncontroversial anyway. Kraxler (talk) 18:14, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
It says clearly in the notice "do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself". Wikipuser777 (talk) 18:16, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I must have overlooked the notice. Under the circumstances, I urge you to remove the tag. (If you don't remove it, anybody else will.) Kraxler (talk) 18:19, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
I also saw that you nominated Anton Gunn for deletion, and the result of this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anton Gunn was to keep it. In that discussion, WP:NPOL has been pointed out already. So, either you learn from your mistakes, or your access to tools like Twinkle could be questioned. Kraxler (talk) 18:50, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

New deal for page patrollers edit

Hi Wikipuser777,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
