Speedy deletion nomination of Mulgrave School

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mulgrave School requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.mulgrave.com/Learning/junior-school/index.aspx. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Mulgrave School

edit

Hello, Wikimulgrave. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Mulgrave School, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Do this after you have successfully written the actual article. Wikipedia does not accept copy and pasted writing, please use your own words and include sources. Also, please do not write letters to Wiki Moderators, there is a Help button and a list of users which will help you.

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Arbustum (talk) 16:36, 17 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article about the Mulgrave School

edit

Sorry that Wikipedia hasn't been clear with you. The page has been deleted previously because, if I remember correctly, it was very advertorial in nature. Unfortunately, the new article you provided copied a fair bit of content from your website, and also was very promotional. Copying and pasting content from other places isn't allowed, and you are also not allowed to use promotional language. If you'd like to create a new article about the Mulgrave School, I would suggest making sure the school is written about from a neutral point of view, and doesn't unduly promote it. Other schools like your's also can have articles, if they can be demonstrated to have significant coverage in reliable sources. Mulgrave School probably fulfills that criteria, and I would suggest gathering coverage such as newspaper articles, magazine pieces, and/or other reliable sources that comply with Wikipedia's reliable source policy. To recap, you would do:

  • Make the article without a promotional tone, and without any copied and pasted content.

Also, your username applies that it is being operated by the entire organization of the Mulgrave School. I would suggest creating a new account that does not imply it is shared, as sharing accounts is prohibited, and accounts that imply they are shared are often blocked.

If you'd like to ask any more questions, you can leave a message at my talk page or put {{helpme}} on your talk page to bring attention of helpers.

Hello- I am the communications coordinator for Mulgrave School. Last year the school created a Wikipedia entry about the school, its history and approach to education. The page was hacked and edited with misleading information on several occasions as a hoax/prank. Each time, the school took to the task of updating the page until, at one point, the page was taken down.

Yesterday, we tried to create a new entry and it has been taken down for a second time. It is common for schools to have wikipedia entries. In fact here are the entries for two schools in our vicinity which have had entries since as far back as 2008. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/York_House_School,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collingwood_School.

Is the problem the way the information is written? Do we need to change the tone/style?

Thanks for your assistance in addressing my questions.

Regards, Karem Planas 604-417-4488

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
