File source and copyright licensing problem with File:YaleDemsEday.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:YaleDemsEday.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 19:53, 7 May 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Theleftorium 19:53, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Do you have permission from Abby McCartney to upload that image? If you haven't, we have to delete the image. If you have, please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Regards, Theleftorium (talk) 09:48, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Theleftorium

I have received explicit permission. I will visit the Requesting copyright permission page now in order to add the proper tags. This is my first time going through this process, so please let me know if I do anything wrong along the way.

Thank you

I'm guessing an email has been sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, since you added {{OTRS pending}} to the image page? If so, that email will be checked in a few days. Theleftorium (talk) 19:26, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes. I forwarded an email between myself and Ms. McCartney in which she gives me permission to use the image. I also included all of the information I have provided on the page with the image. Thank you again for your help.

Okay, thank you. I will ask an admin to take a look at the email to see if everything is in order. :) Theleftorium (talk) 21:25, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fantastic. Thanks again.

Alright, the OTRS team has received the email, but there is a problem. McCartney needs to state that she releases the image under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license — the license that is used for all text contributions on Wikipedia. It allows anyone to use the work as long as they credit the author (McCartney). If you can get her to release the image under this license (and send evidence of that to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org), then there shouldn't be a problem. Alternatively you could get McCartney to follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Declaration_of_consent_for_all_enquiries, which is a bit easier in my opinion. Theleftorium (talk) 21:55, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Abby is sending the Declaration of Consent for All Inquiries form now.

Great! I'll let you know when the email has been checked. Theleftorium (talk) 09:48, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Old Scroll and Key.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Old Scroll and Key.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:07, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
