Speedy deletion nomination of Diving expertise
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Diving expertise requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. License tagging for File:Sharkey wearing Fenzy.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Sharkey wearing Fenzy.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 09:05, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Sharkey wearing Fenzy.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Sharkey wearing Fenzy.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 03:58, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Welcome
editI noticed you have edited a few diving related articles since joining Wikipedia - welcome, we always need more Wikipedians with diving expertise. You may want to take a look at the WP:SCUBA page and see various ongoing projects. Feel free to put yourself down as a participant and then people will let you know when new projects are starting up. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. --Legis (talk - contribs) 05:00, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification
editHi. In Diving certification, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page SIO (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:12, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

editYour username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. —EncMstr (talk) 17:23, 24 December 2011 (UTC)That notice is not clear. Your username suggests it is a group account, and group accounts are not allowed. One person per account please. —EncMstr (talk) 17:24, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Wiki4robert&me (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
It is hardly a group account, it is in recognition of the fact that I edit with my son (who is not permitted on the internet alone). The user name represents what it is, a wiki editing account "4" my son named: Robert and for me, that we use together, at the same time, with me in charge. If that somehow breaks the rules in a fashion that is significant enough to require change, please let me know and I will follow the instruction to change wiki4robert&me to a different name. I did not want to have an account for him and a different one for me that would appear to be a sock-puppet. Thank you.
Decline reason:
We really cannot have an account that represents more than one person. It's just against policy. There's is nothing to prevent you adding suitable statements on each user page explaining the link to each other - like some users have 2 or more accounts (just like myself - you will find I have added data at User:Ronjones, an account I use away from home) Ronhjones (Talk) 20:40, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
I will change the user name. Might I remark that my newbie experiences here on wiki have not been particularly welcoming, despite my specific efforts to be well behaved and open to learning and correction. I strongly suggest that everyone read not only the rules that empower them to push others about, but also pay some attention to policy statements that encourage helpful and welcoming approaches to new users:
Dealing with inappropriate usernames Policy shortcuts: WP:BADNAME WP:IU
If you have encountered an inappropriate username – in particular, a username that is misleading, promotional, offensive, or disruptive as described above, you have several different options for how to proceed. You should choose one based on the severity of the problem, and based on what resolution would be the best for Wikipedia. Use common sense in making your choice, and avoid biting the newbies.
Talk to the user
Many users who create new usernames have not read this policy. If you see a username that is problematic but was not obviously created in bad faith, you should make an attempt to encourage the user to create a new account with a better username. Often, the problem can be cleared up in an amicable way. If you want, you can use the Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (Wiki4robert&me) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account to use for editing. Thank you.
The notifier has not provided a reason why this username may not meet Wikipedia's username policy. Incorrect notifications must be removed. If you know that your username does not violate our policy, please remove the message and leave a note on the notifier's talk page. |

- FWIW - the signup paqe used to be bigger. It was changed some two years ago for simplicity. If you think that was bad, you would be welcome to suggest changes at MediaWiki_talk:Fancycaptcha-createaccount#Simplicity Ronhjones (Talk) 23:52, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

I am very sorry for the hassle. Rather than go through the rename process, just log out and sign up for a new account. The block type will allow you do to that, and that can be done in seconds rather than the hours or days it might take to have it done for you (especially today).
There is—or at least was at one time—a mentoring program which provides a gentler introduction to editing Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Mentorship. Or, even more potentially useful, Wikipedia:Ambassadors.
Please don't be discouraged because you bumped up against the backside of the morass of rules. There are plenty of good experiences to look forward to and enjoy in collaborating on Wikipedia. For example, see the list of subject-based projects at the Wikipedia:WikiProject page. Best wishes, —EncMstr (talk) 23:09, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
- NB: The program is now Adopt-a-user. Danger High voltage! 22:11, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I just wanted to touch bases regarding the suggestions offered for assistance. While mentors would be an appropriate suggestion, I would agree with the suggestion to take advantage of the Adopt-a-user program. You are correct in your assessment about the Ambassador Education Program. The program works specifically with college and university courses in the US, Canada, India, and Egypt. If you have questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact me. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 01:07, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
