Notability of University at Buffalo Student Association
editA tag has been placed on University at Buffalo Student Association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 02:24, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Re your email: You are welcome to recreate the article if you can provide citations from reliable sources showing media coverage of the Student Association that would make the group notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. It would be best if you did not use University at Buffalo media such as The Spectrum as sources since it would not be an independent source. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:49, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Re your message: I am not sure what you mean by "start to discuss about the Student Association". What did you want to discuss? The name that you created the article at previously was fine, but before you recreate it, like I said in my previous message to you, you need to provide citations from reliable sources that the association is notable. My use of the word "media" was not a reference to a picture. I was referring media sources such as newspapers, news organizations, magazines, television news shows, etc. You can upload a picture to Wikipedia if you wish. Instructions on that are available at Help:Contents/Images and media. I prefer that the majority of the communication that I do happen on Wikipedia through User Talk pages, but if you wish to ask a question that is private and requires a private response, you can send me email by filling out the "E-mail this user" link on my user page. It's the same link you clicked a few weeks ago. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:04, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Hello Gogo, sorry for the late reply, ok well that sounds great and if I need further help I will be sure to ask you here. I have a question about categorizing articles. How can I search for a specific genre that is categorized, for example I want to categorize a buffalo related article, adding it to a list, linking them and also creating image categories.

- Rawey- I forgot to mention this in class, but for cases like this I would recommend starting the article in a personal sandbox (e.g. User:WiKiRaW31/University at Buffalo Student Association), where you can work on it for a while and we can review it with less concern that it will be quickly deleted. Later, if it passes muster, move it to a regular article. --dave pape (talk) 17:14, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Palestinian/Jordanian Dabkeh
editA tag has been placed on Palestinian/Jordanian Dabkeh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TallNapoleon (talk) 01:21, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- The speedy deletion tag has already been removed, so it won't be CSDed. I put it there because the page was basically empty when I saw it--it's much more filled out now. What you need to do is to establish notability, and maybe figure out whether this would better be served being merged with Dabkeh. TallNapoleon (talk) 02:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'd bring it up on Talk:Dabkeh and see what they think; I really don't know. It does seem likely that your page will be moved, since the slash does weird things. TallNapoleon (talk) 02:21, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Images
editI don't mess around with images myself, so I'm really not the person to ask. I'd recommend asking an administrator for some advice. TallNapoleon (talk) 20:13, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

editWelcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Zamitus has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Image licenses
editTo upload multiple photos from one person, and minimize the amount of work he has to do, I'd suggest that you upload all the photos with a {{OTRS pending}} template on them, plus the proper photographer name and license. Then, once you've uploaded all of them, ask him to send a single e-mail (using commons:Commons:email templates) covering all the images. In that one e-mail he can list all the photos you've uploaded (you give him the list), or he could say something like "all of my photos uploaded to Commons by User:WiKiRaW31".
Make sure that, before doing this, you've explained to the photographer the meaning of the free license (that anyone can use the images for any purpose, including commercially without paying royalties). Then, try to do the uploading and e-mailing in a short period of time (like a couple of days), so that things don't languish too long without OTRS confirmation. --dave pape (talk) 17:25, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Brooklyn is not a Featured article and cannot be reviewed at WP:FAR. You can place a {{db-author}} at Wikipedia:Featured article review/Brooklyn, NY, and an admin will delete it. Peer review would be the best place to get feedback for improving the article to featured status; some tips for getting a helpful peer review are at WP:FCDW/March 17, 2008. The article Barry Mungar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Article sourced only to a database.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —S Marshall T/C 18:49, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
