Article on Cosmic Rays ADDENDUM

edit

Article on Cosmic Rays, entry "Sources" It is advisable to change the line

<< causing the authors to set upper limits as low as 3.4 × 10−6× erg·cm−2 on the flux of 1 GeV – 1 TeV cosmic rays from gamma-ray bursts. >>

to << causing the authors to set upper limits as low as 3.4 × 10−6× erg·cm−2 (3.4 x 10-9x J.m-2) on the flux of 1 GeV – 1 TeV cosmic rays from gamma-ray bursts.

('erg' being an old unit, still common in anglosaxon astrophysical literature, but not accepted any longer in the European SI system. This addendum is particularly addressed to science teachers in Europe who are accustomed to modern units. Moreover, the change of 'erg' into 'joule' is to be considered logical, the author having used 'joule' ('J') in the text already.)
