Proposed deletion of George de Menil

edit

The article George de Menil has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 12:00, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

George de Menil

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of George de Menil, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Georges de Menil. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:59, 26 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

signing

edit

When you leave a comment on a user talk page or an article , it must be signed and dated. Do this by typing a string of 4 tilde signs at the end. The tilde is the ~, usually found on the far left of the top row of an American typewriter keyboard; for elsewhere, see tilde. It can also be conveniently done by using the symbol in the box above the edit window: it's the third item from the left, the one that shows a pen writing a letter. Appeal to Unblock

edit

unblock | reason=I believe the reasons my account has been marked for potential sock-puppetry are as follows: 1. Because of an impression that the account bdemenil is a duplicate account under my name 2. Because of allegations that I was paid or am paying people to write comments on Wikipedia in defense of the entry for Lois de Menil 3. Because of a speculation that the account Trout71 is linked to my own.

In response: 1. I know the wiki user bdemenil, but we are different people with independent views. We have both made contributions to the page of Lois de Menil and more recently to a page I created for Groupmuse. The latter overlap is because we both attended a Groupmuse event. We live in separate cities as should be apparent from our past IP addresses. 2. I can attest that I have neither been paid nor paid anyone to contribute to Wikipedia. I would be a poor choice as a hire, given that I am a novice. 3. I do not know Trout71 nor do I have any affiliation with him.

Thank you for taking the time to consider these facts. I hope they will help you arrive at a fair conclusion, namely that my account will be unblocked and that my entries evaluated on the merit of their content rather than on my character as a contributor.Vwikiv (talk) 22:41, 25 April 2015 (UTC)VwikivReply

I am sorry that it took two days for you to get a reply here. I'm discussing this situation with the blocking admin and another checkuser. Newyorkbrad (talk) 21:41, 27 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Newyorkbrad: @MaxSem: I understand that there is further concern about my relationship to Khmer15. In particular I have seen reference to a "technical match," and suggestions that he is either my sock puppet or my meat puppet. I imagine this is because we have have both logged in from a similar IP address. This is because we are both affiliated with Harvard University and use its wifi network. There are over 10,000 students affiliated with the University using similar IP addresses.

Khmer15 is a Wiki user with expertise on the topic I was writing about. I contacted him to ask for his thoughts on the discussion about the article I had written that was nominated for deletion. I did not in any way seek to shape his opinion or coerce him into taking a stance. I apologize, however, if by seeking the expertise of people I knew I was in breach of Wiki policy. I am learning the procedures of Wikipedia through this trying experience, and have attempted throughout to respond constructively to criticisms, many of which have been of a personal nature rather than relating to the content of what I wrote.Vwikiv (talk) 20:49, 3 May 2015 (UTC)VwikivReply

Unblocked

edit

My apologies for my delay in responding to this unblock request. As indicated above, I initially had to discuss this issue with the checkuser who made the block as well as with another checkuser who offered to review it.

The checkusers remain concerned that it is impossible to technically distinguish this account from one or more of the others that were editing the same article at the same time. Despite this fact, after consultation in which the blocking administrator has consented to a cautious unblock, I will credit your explanation and unblock this account. However, please use your best efforts to ensure that this problem does not recur, such as by not having more than one person in your house editing the same article from the same computer around the same time.

If you have any questions about this, please let me know. Otherwise, happy editing, and sorry again about the delay. Newyorkbrad (talk) 20:45, 6 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Newyorkbrad: Thank you for taking the time to discuss my case and for taking my word. I look forward to editing more in the future.

Speedy deletion nomination of Groupmuse

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Groupmuse, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Sæn 04:07, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
